Sounds good Ferg. How about sending out one of those "need a little help dragging one out" texts. I'm going to try a spot in lot 1 where I have done well in the past. If I do tag one it's going to be fun to get it out of there.

I would love to both receive and send one of those texts to you. If you get I will definetly help you get it out.

I don't think I have ever hunted lot 1. Not sure that I even know where that is. I will have to look that up.

Ok, don't think I have ever driven over to that area but I did hike through that area last week. Lots of open timber if it is the same area I am thinking of.

Yeah it's fairly open on the north end with some deep ditches that run down to vermilion river.

That is exactly where I hiked. I followed a cross country path that ran up the ridge I believe to the south of it although I don't see how in the world the cross country skiers can make it through that area unless they do a ton of trail cleanup before winter. So many trees and brush over growing the trail. I made my way around to the golf course then cut along the cart path back to the main loop. I think where you will be is less then half a mile from where I will be setup. I remember looking at that on my gps.

Yeah it's been a good afternoon spot over the last few years. There are a ton of oaks in that area that produce a good crop of acorns so it's a great feeding area. Plus the trees are all great for climbing stands so it works out well.

Change in plans for me. I'm going to be up a tree in lot 9. Someone took my spot on me, that's what you get on public grounds I guess.

Was out scouting lot 4 tonight and found the spot where 5 doe's regularly enter the cut bean field. Not sure that I will be able to get a tree stand setup in this spot but will be a great spot for a ground blind and perfect spot to take my daughter! I will be in this spot sunday afternoon if I don't have any luck tomorrow or sunday morning!

I'll be in the woods bright and early tomorrow for my first morning hunt. I plan to spend all day in the woods (hunt morning, scout, hunt evening). The temps with get up in the high 60's. If you get bored or a deer down shoot some texts.

    Good luck to everyone!

Holy Squirrels!!! I have never seen more tree rats in one sitting in my life. I did see one deer about 100yds out but i didn't get a good look at it. Add in the 4 guys on mountain bikes doing laps around me on the trails and it was a typical public land sit for me. I'm going to try to hit up Lot 1 tomorrow or Monday evenings if the wife lets me out of the house.

Managed to get out this morning and spooked a nice doe. Other then that it was pretty uneventful. Temps dropped and rain started coming down pretty good around 8:45. Decided to pack up around 9.

Plan was to get back out this afternoon but headed back home instead. Not sure why but I feel like someone beat the snot out of me. So going to rest today and tomorrow and plan on getting back out during the week. Just hope whatever it is that I am coming down with passes quickly!

well not as productive of a weekend as I hoped, but thats hunting. I hunted friday afternoon and seen 3 does, couldn't get a shot. Got back to the farm sat. morning and ended up sleeping in the truck till 8:00, raining like cats and dogs! Got up in stand around 9:30, pretty nice rest of the day, seen about 10 does and zero bucks, almost had a shot on a doe. Seen some more fresh big scrapes, so hopefully from the sound of it, this upcoming week is going to cool down and activity kick in!

Yesterday morning I had zero deer sightings so I decided to move for the afternoon to a field edge. Around 4pm I look to the right then scan my way to the left. After spending no more the 3 seconds looking to the left I went back across and dead center in the middle of the field is a buck. Not huge maybe 115ish. He had to have popped out if a small dip in the field because he was not there 4 seconds ago. He was about 125 yards but was heading the wrong direction. I sent 1 grunt out he stopped for 2 seconds to look then continued. Next was a grunt and 2 snort wheezes. He stopped for a little bit longer stomped his foot once then went on about his way. He entered where the timber comes to a point in the field then came back out the same spot 2 hours later and walked out of sight. As I was pulling out of the driveway last night a group of 9 deer crossed in front of me and 1 had yet to cross.

Didn't even get out this weekend guys. Filmed the boss man three days in Wisconsin and got back early Saturday, so I was going to get all my chores done Saturday afternoon/night so I could hunt Sunday. Well, I had a little finder bender Saturday which pushed everything back, couple that with my sight breaking off my bow and me having to get a new one and get it sighted in and I didn't even get out! Hopefully I'll get out a couple times this week, this week is sure to be a good one!

Shot another doe Saturday morning. Looks the weather is finally going to cool down end of this week. I plan on spending a lot of time in a tree Saturday and Sunday. Good luck everyone.

My Buck Fever came in today w00t! Its supposed to be super windy and stormy tomorrow so I'll probably wait until Wed or so to make some scrapes. Hopefully I'll see some action this weekend and all next week since I'll be off work.
