Well no blood was drawn in KY this weekend. Last night was a constant (just a tad harder then drizzle) rain with 15 mph winds and high 40's temp. It wasn't the most comfortable sit but I did have a few doe come in. Only 1 was a shooter but I needed her to come about 5 yards closer and turn as she was quartered to me. The others were yearlings. This morning about 10 minutes before shooting time I had 2 deer behind me but nothing I could do. We talked things over after this mornings hunt and made a few tweaks on approaching stands and such. The deer and deer sign are there but they know how to work that hilly terrain better then we do. But every weekend we learn more about this property. Hopefully in a few weeks I can head back down there. Until then I'll be sitting in some Ohio trees.
Had a good sit tonight...saw 5 does, no bucks yet. Hoyt n it still waiting to see that beast you put down. We have a great team to upset the BBK's this year. Let's keep at it guys!
Congrats Cody!!! Way to go! Had 5 doe walk past me this evening but only a very small one presented a shot which I elected to pass on. The other 4 were just out of range with to many branches in the way. So back at it in a week or so.
Had a great opening weekend. Saw a total of 16 deer. Had 2 small bucks at 10 yards. The does never presented a shot...they will though one day.
Looks like it was a great weekend for all of us! Way to go Ryan and Cody! Can't wait to see all the pictures and get the entire stories! Be sure to get them posted to the official scorecard page! We are well on our way to taking down the defending chumps! We are just the team to do it too! Keep up the great work everyone!
Congrats Ryan and Cody! Way to get some points on the board. I would have to say this was one of the best opening weekends i have had in a long time without a kill. I should have had 50 points for us on Saturday morning but i rushed a shot on a doe that slipped in on me while i was fooling around online on my I-Phone. I did see a ton of deer and passed on a yearling at 8yds Saturday evening. As for Sunday, i was a little under the weather so i didn't make it out at all. There is still plenty of season left and i know now that all of my stands are where they need to be to score this year. I have the day off tomorrow so i think i'm gonna try to get a better look at the buck i saw on Friday. I think a little ground blind action is in order and i found the perfect spot for it.
here are some pics of this big s.o.b. sorry took so long, I still have to get field pics from my wife's friends dad who helped me drag this sucker out of the woods, so I can do the official scorecard thing!
Good luck tomorrow Drew! Hopefully we can hook up on one of my future visits down towards your area. I will probably be back down hunting that same spot I was in last night in 2 weeks.
good job cody on the doe, can't wait for the video! we are off to a great start, things are only gonna keep getting better, let's keep kicking some ASS! As soon a sI can get those other pics, i'll have them on here and on the official scorecard... good luck guys!
Right on Ryan, great buck! Way to go Cody! I'm bear hunting all week. Whitetails open back up Sunday.
I think your right jim, a 162 class would look better than my 138 class from last year, not that i'm bashing that deer!
I think that we have a real good chance of taking down the champs! We are certainly off to a good start and based on the team that we have I think that it can be done! Way to go everyone! Keep it up!
I'm taking the rack tonight to get scored by an official boone and crockett scorer, so hopefully if I get my other field pics emailed to me tonight, I will get the scorecard done and have it up tommorrow on the official scorecard forum. So hopefully i'll squeeze a few more points yet!
Ryan Dude,,, Is that one of the Bucks we talked about on the phone before the season that you were targeting?? Congrats man, what a Buck!
Hey Guys, here is the story and a couple pics of my doe. Video should be up tomorrow and I'll give everyone a head's up when it goes up live. http://www.bowhunting.com/blog/post/Illinois.aspx I also realized I haven't even entered my doe for the contest, and I am in charge of the contest this at the office! I've just been so pumped about this doe you guys have no idea. I can't even imagine how I will act should I harvest a buck!
