Im going up to our land on monday to check cameras and put up 3 more stands then I should be set, I would like to make a mock scrape and put a camera on it see what comes to it too.
Here are some of the bucks I will be chasing this year off of one of my prperties. I have hundreds of pictures of all these bucks. Most of them are on multiple cameras also. I will be posting more from different pieces. SPLITS HEAVY HITTER EARLY BIRD FULL TILT ???
Those are some nice bucks, also they are during shooting hours too, You will probably be the first to put one on the ground.
Nope, not yet..I get my current one off in seven days, then I get a shorter cast. The one I have now is up past my elbow, so I can't even straiten my arm out. Once I get the shorter cast i'm hoping I can hook up some kind of release and i'll be able to pull my bow back since i'll be able to straiten my arm again. I'm also hoping i'll be able to play football again with the shorter cast. I've already missed my first two games and I don't want to miss anymore. I'm not sure how long i'll have the shorter cast- it all depends on my next x-rays- but doc says I shouldn't have to miss any bow-hunting at least.
Yeah it also sucks that I hardly did any shooting before I broke my arm since I had two-a-days and summer workouts for football.. I'm seriously considering getting a crossbow as much as I hate to say it..
That would be nice to put one on the ground early. But one thing I do know, is that when these boys shed that velvet, everything changes. I usually never even post pics of the buck in velvet cause it usually doesn't mean a thing come season. I hunt in an area where guys dont believe big bucks live or be killed. I have learned to hunt around others. So I may not be the first to put some bone down but its a long grind. Wow, I cant wait for Oct. 1.
we have about 200 acres to hunt on, We have a far north 40 that never gets touched because if we walked through it it would kick all the deer out form there, Its basically the sanctuary where all the deer bed but since my bestfriends land borders all of ours he let me go in through his property his dad owns 700 acres. It is all managed good no one shoots one bucks unless its a young kid that has never shot a deer and they are just trying to get the interested in hunting. since my friend let me go in through his land i hung a stand 70 yards of the line and shot my first bow buck there which is the one on my profile. but a good thing is during gun season when they are making drives we just sit in our stand and all the deer come running onto our land because we never push any deer.
BowFreak - Those pictures are great. Love the deer and the quality of that camera. One question...what do you mean by above qoute? Do the bachelor groups break up? Do they become nocternal? Just curious what happens after that... Thanks
Hey Guys, Johnny Miller here, finally checking in. I'm a bh.com pro staff guy who lives in Chippewa Falls, WI and hunts northern WI and IL. I own a Lawn Care company and we are super busy right now with 80 hr weeks and will be until 1st week of Oct. when I will hopefully shut down another successful season and climb into a tree somewhere. Hoping to put down some deer this year and help team #4 on to victory. Again, sorry i'm not able to be more active in this right now. Good luck to all.
Looks like we only have 2 more hunters left to check-in. The team is looking good. Hope all works out for us this year.
Just got done hanging and trimming my rut stands. One of my standsis on a swamp edge and cornfield edge leading to a 5 acre swamp surrounded by corn, creeks, and a little timber. I'm set up on the only bean field in the area in the only travel area from the swamp. Only tree I could set up in is narrow and stand is 14 feet off ground. I don't like that but that's all there is. I like a minimum of 24'. So I set stand on backside of tree to break mysilloute up. The pics I posted with the corn in the background is where the stand is. Now hopefully the corn doesn't get picked anytime soon.
