I hope not, even the guy at scheels said he shot them last year and killed 6 deer with them and they all went down insight
Haha I was just lookin at the awesome kill photos and thought they looked the same and nobody said anything. I thought those 2 pics looked the same. guess not, didnt notice they were a little different after fitz blew it up on our thread and i went on my laptop and saw it.
Yeah don't worry about it. Don't be a hero. If you ever suspect something just be quiet and let somebody else worry about it.
alright cool i will be checkin saturday, hopefully a doe down saturday or sunday. Ill take 2 pics too dont worry Brent we are just bringin in the viewers too
Also this weekend I plan on making some mock scrapes, I will put a camera on one too. I got one of my cameras over a scrape and rub from last year. the reason I have it at this particular spot was because last year when my dad was walking out he saw the biggest buck of his life working that rub and scrape. but i dont know if he was killed because there were 2 giants killed last year during the gun season right around that area one from a truck. do you think I should just make the mock scrape where the scrape was last year or move it down the logging road a little ways. please I need help with this one
That's up to you. Chances are that scrape will become live again without you making one. My opinion all that kind of scent and making scrapes scare off the big boys. Seems like only the young ones fall for that stuff.
I so very much hesitate saying this as I dont want to jinx myself, but for the last 6 years I've had a doe down by the end of the second week of the season and on 4 of those occasions I've had 2 down. I hung a new stand this year in a spot that should be absolutely prime for a doe down quickly, but it will depend largely on the wind as there is no way I am going to hunt a stand on a field edge unless its the right wind. I know exactly the path the deer use and need a N to NW wind to be able to get up in it. Ill probably jump into it the first chance the wind is right early, then leave it rest until the rut because it should be a wonderful rut stand (saw two fights, which happened to be early in the season, a doe bred and 5 shooter bucks with one being 160" + at this location). I honestly havent been this excited about a location in a long time so I hope it works out.
Just to get an idea of how all of you guys hunt and your properties lets do a little history survey. 1. Biggest buck you have shot? Myself, a 132" 8 point last year 2. Biggest buck missed? Probably a 150" 10 point. Took 3 hairs off the bottom of his chest about 5 years ago. 3. Biggest buck you have seen on property you will be hunting this year? My mom took a 142" 8 point last year and I saw an absolute bruiser near where a new stand I have is. I would guess him 160" plus with more than 10 points. 4. How many deer do you kill a year on average? We can take two bucks and as many does as we want in IL. On average I get between 2-4 deer a year. Last year I shot 4 5. Whats your "shooter limit"? I wont shoot a buck this year unless he is over 135" and 3.5 or older. i am a terrible judge in the field though, but I am going to try very, very hard to be pretty selective this year.
Biggest buck shot 162 Biggest buck missed 160's Biggest buck seen 220's....look up richie music world record 10 point sheds on this site. Shoot 1 buck/year Won't shoot any young bucks and haven't in 9 years Running cameras first time ever and I think it is spooking the bucks. Debating to take them out completely.
Biggest buck shot: 131 13 pointer Biggest buck missed: havent missed Biggest buck seen 180 class buck. usually shoot a buck a year but can take a buck during gun hunting. wont shoot any buck smaller than 125 i cant judge the best either
Im hunting saturday morning should I hunt closer to their bedding areas or closer to the field they are feeding on
