Had a 100” 8pt full velvet come in behind me at 3yds. I’m sitting on the ground in a buckthorn draw back against a little group of thick saplings. These trails in the buckthorn are just dry dirt. I didn’t hear him until he was 5yds away. I have no idea how he didn’t see me but I grabbed my bow and started to turn and he caught me. First adrenaline shakes of the hunting season. 7 trails in front of me within 20yds and he takes the one behind me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The truck is packed and I’m headed six hours North should be scouting by lunchtime today. The goals for this trip is to check cameras, check ag field, and find a stand for opening day.

I've been covered up with the same 8 pointers all summer. Finally, I got a couple of new shooters on camera. Sent from my SM-G990U1 using Tapatalk
Couldn’t get it done in ND guys. Minnesota opener is 9/16 I’ll be in my tiny oak tree that is loaded with acorns. Hope they hold off on dropping for a bit. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Forecast says opening day will be a washout. I don't mind rain but thunderstorms most of the day is a no go for me on this hill. At least they are issuing in cooler weather. 90'ss to 70's. Then again.....how often are they actually correct?...
On the way home from my short but productive scouting trip. I was able to check out all the crops, check all cameras and pick out a few trees that’s I can get a stand in. No giants on camera but did have a lot of picks of a few good bucks. I’ll be back October 2.
Four the hunt is my recommendation. I’ll try to think of more today. I’ll be more active here starting this week. I need to get caught up on everything Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
What I learned today. Driving to town at 11 a.m. I look up and the sun and the moon are opposite each other at same height in sky. Deer are running all over and across the road. So that sun / moon positioning is a great time to be in the woods...not on the roads.
Delayed poison ivy reaction started yesterday. Both hands and both legs with very swollen eyes. Today my left eye is a lot worse.
