It's supposed to rain this weekend and I'm off work. Decent amount of rain. I need the deer gods to help me out and push that dang system out of here!
Well, I saw 8 does yesterday evening. They walked behind my stand just out of bow range. They circled around and came back through 45 yards in front of me. It was entirely too thick for a shot. I'm hunt hunting an alternate stand this evening. It's just off the trail they took last night. If I had been in this stand, I would have had a 10 yard shot. It's a heavily used trail with multiple large rubs. Maybe the big boy will show himself. Sent from my SM-G990U1 using Tapatalk
Won’t be a full all day sit on Saturday. Lady wants to go out for Halloween and asked if I could come in at 4pm. I said fine as long as she knows tree time comes before just about all else these next few weeks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Hunting in Oklahoma this afternoon. Got out about 3pm. It's windy and in the upper 70s. The cows have been moved off for about a week. Hopefully, the deer are back on their pattern. I should know soon. Sent from my SM-G990U1 using Tapatalk
Cold front T minus 18 hrs. Rain ending for at least half a day. Time to arrow a buck. Let's go Four Lokos
Did some shopping with my wife this morning. I picked up some relatively inexpensive rain-proof camo at Sam's. I had to test it out in a heavy drizzle this afternoon. About 30 minutes after getting in the stand, I heard a deer blow about 100 yards south of me. I grunted at it. It got fairly close, I could hear it walking in the damp leaves. Never saw it because a cedar tree to my left. Right at dark, two deer walked right into my set-up, quartering away at 14 yards. Unfortunately, it was too dark to see my pins. Heading to my granddaughter's cheer competition early in the morning 3.5 hours away. My next change to hunt will probably be Monday morning. Sent from my SM-G990U1 using Tapatalk

It has been a very busy day. We made a 7 hour round trip to watch our granddaughter cheer for 2 minutes. They did great, and it was well worth the trip. Got home at 3 PM and headed to the woods. About 4:30, I had a small buck come in to grunt calls. He made a few rubs and hung around for a couple of minutes. Just before 6:00, a group of does and fawns approached my stand quickly. I was able to draw my bow. I held a full draw for several minutes. The last doe stopped a shooting lane. I made a terrible shot. Not really sure what happened, but I hit her. When I checked for sign, there was blood everywhere. I found her after 50 yards. I hit her in the ham, severing the femoral artery. Sent from my SM-G990U1 using Tapatalk
Finally, the wind has shifted out of the north and the high today is 64 which is a lot better than what it was yesterday at 85. I should be in a tree this evening after work next to my house looking for the first available doe.
Just got back from a week in. Indiana, it was extremely hot and windy. Saw some smaller bucks but none of the mature shooters made an appearance. Podcast about it: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-deer-shop-podcast/id1698360274?i=1000633068203 This cold front will have bucks on there feet heavy here in Ohio and couldn’t be more excited. Going to be a wild week. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
