Need to monitor the weather very closely the next few weeks. Will determine when I take some days off to go after him. Was planning on Wednesday-Friday beginning of November since our gun season opens 11/4. Weather will determine what I do tho.

It’s looking to be a killing type of stretch. I went through all of my Tactacam SD cards from this summer today. I had 2 very shootable deer on camera late august. My goal is a deer that I can mount… doesn’t have to be Mega.

Father in law is letting the neighbor and his kid doe hunt with the rifles this weekend. Checked cards and batteries around noon and got out of there. Keep grinding guys. Lets get some deer on the ground this week.

I'm on vacation this week. I didn't make it out this morning, but I plan to hunt all day tomorrow. Out this afternoon trying to get my granddaughter a deer during the Oklahoma youth hunt. 20231022_160221.jpg

Other half got it done this evening, slight case of mistaken identity. He thought this was "the big 8"...guess there was some ground shrinkage. I dont care, hes going to tast soooo yummy! 20231022_191805.jpeg

It's very hot and dry for October in Arkansas/Oklahoma. Absolutely no deer moving this morning. I switched things up for this afternoon. Deer have been frequenting this pond in the evening, and it doesn't hurt that there are a couple loaded persimmon trees near my stand. Hopefully, tonight will be my lucky night. 20231023_160007.jpg 20231023_160023.jpg 20231023_161456.jpg

Think I’ll be doing my first all day sit on Saturday.

Had an unknown buck grunting and chasing tonight. The fawn the doe was with ran right under my stand the doe went opposite way. Should start picking up by this weekend.

It rained this morning. I had a dental appointment and needed a haircut. Got all that taken care of. I'm in the woods this this afternoon. It's too windy, but there is a good chance of rain the rest of the week. I may hunt in a ground blind as long as it's not storming.

Today I put on the back pack leaf blower and off I went this is a second round. Did all yard and drive then headed out back and down the hill. I went all the way to the swamp stand and packed down a trail in marsh grass found apple tree behind stand and one parallel are dropping apples trimmed wild rose and found the swamp has way more cattail then before. Had to bend some for shooting. Well, didn't that let me find a bear sized bed in the middle of them and 10 yrds from the ladder. The thing looked like a giant robbins nest. Also see trails are closer this year with scrapes and two more regular sized beds.
I only hunt this crossbow but now the rental guy is gone I'm also legal for gun. Took a slob out of there one year and a few doe. First time in years the apples have been good . I also got a few trails on upper side across street and mid hill done. Cleared a few shooting lanes and cleaned out a few ground blinds worked in the gardening, washed studded winter tires/rims and loaded them in the car to be put on tomorrow. I'm a tad pooped...lol
From house to swamp is 3/4 mile steep enough to have a water fall in one stream. Going downs not too bad, climbing back up ...sucks! Lol
Boy oh boy the tracks I uncovered . That hill is a love hate situation. Only 412 ft wide and literally lined with hunters both sides. This makes shoulder or heart shots a must.
It's in the 70's and I'm watching blow flies , stink bugs, yellow jackets and beetles desperately trying c to get in housecthrough the screens...nasty things
