I'll be headed to the farm this weekend to listen in the mornings and see where I need to set up. I have better luck ambushing these birds than I do calling them in. They don't like to come to calling. Just need to be in the right spot.

Everyone is too quiet. Getting ready for
the attack on the 10th? I did some arrow
shooting today out of my blind at 20
yards. I feel they are in trouble at that
    range. Looking forward to it!

I roosted 2 birds last night, they wouldn't quit gobbling until well after sunset. I heard those 2 and 2 other ones this morning.

I still have until May 1st. before season opens. I got out this afternoon and set up my Reconyx in a patch of x-mas trees that it appears some turkey have been scratching in. I will check in next weekend and move it to a different farm where a group of atleast 15-20 longbeards were hanging out last year.

I got out this evening checkin out one of my spots and had a big Tom strutting in a cut corn field by himself. I watched him for about 15-20 minutes and didn't see any other turkeys around. I'm pretty sure it's the bird that I missed last year, he is huge now. Tomorrow evening I am gonna set-up a little closer to the field with my camera and hopefully get some photos!

My season starts on Monday. I'll be out there Monday and Tuesday and then mostly weekends after that.

Hey Team......well got up at 5am and was out and set up by 5:45am. It seemed that only one gobbler was in my area but "we" talked back and forth for at least 1.5 hours. His gobbles seemed to be getting closer but never made it all the way in where I could see him. Wanted to get out of the blind and stalk him but didn't want to blow my cover. After 8:45am...didn't hear him anymore....sorry to let the team down but I haven't given up just yet....

    Good luck greeneyedeagle,

I got out for a little more scouting today, the group of birds on one farm I hunt is looking very good. There were 5 toms strutting (all had beard in the 9" or up range) with one hen in the field. I know where they are roosting, I know what they do and where they go... I just gotta hope that they keep this pattern up until May 1st. I already have a game plan set-up which will allow me to get around 100 yards from their roost and have the absolute perfect set-up without any chance of being detected.

Here is a photo I pulled from my cam today... [IMG]
