Checked camera. Every buck on there has dropped. One half rack. Also got a picture of a buck with his ear shot off. Here's Michigan hunting at its best
Their ears can get frozen off also. Especially if they have been damaged in a fight and have issues with circulation. I have seen the same thing in livestock. Good luck picking up those sheds!
Good point. Guess I didn't think about that. I guess I just went of the assumption that people in this state love poaching and shooting anything that moves and the result would be a missed head shot from the road haha.
The snow should be melted pretty substantially here by next monday or tuesday, I plan to make it out and do a card swap and walk a few miles. Airenlow I can't wait to get out there with a kid in a few years.... My girlfriend is 13 weeks by the way!
Congrats! Em is just getting to the point where I can take her out exploring...it's a blast! We have family stuff this weekend, but I'm hoping to get out to my #1 property next weekend to pull cards, stands and look for sheds.
Checking in. I checked cams on two different properties yesterday. All but a few bucks are still holding their headgear! Seems to be late again!
We had a new Deer show in MN this year and they asked me to bring my 98" shed and enter it into the contest. It won by 15" and I saw that it ranks 53rd all time in the state in the new MN record books.
I thought I had been beat to some of my good spots, but wondering now if a lot of the bucks were still holding. I am getting a lot of reports of bucks still wearing both sides. I hope to add to the total in the next few days.
I got out today and checked a camera and walked around for awhile. The area was really bare and I don't think deer are moving around that spot currently. There is a spot near my house that I consistently see 20-30 deer feeding in the evening. I need to check that out.
Enter me for two more. No pics here but I can post up later if need be. One tiny one and one decent 4 pt.
I am headed to my lease on Sunday. Sunday night you will know if I am a happy dude or really pissed off! Hell Fletch might hear me in Iowa if we don't find anything. None of us have been down because of snow at all. There should be quite a few sheds but the problem is we are 3 hours from the lease and don't find many sheds. The locals down there get on the ridges and go ridge to ridge and don't care if they have permission or not. Same things go for mushroom hunters. I guess I should be glad they don't sneak into hunt anymore but that might because of a few serious @$$ chewings!
