Went up to the lease today to check my cameras. Camera picked up our teams mascot lol E4687A72-17BC-4D9D-A4C5-CD92D528A0BC.jpeg Also got the famous 11 pointer! 12C542B9-8ABD-4EA9-8EC3-FE65B3262F34.jpeg Got a picture of the doe I shot last year… she had twins! (If you look at her ham you’ll see the dark scar I left her) BEE73DFF-F9E0-40D6-9224-E2EB8135FE8F.jpeg I did add a doe to the hit list! This is the 4th year I’ve gotten pics of her, I actually call her Ms Chewie because of her jaw looks like she got a big chew in. Last year she blew at me… gotta go! 8A713B3C-4480-48B2-9244-819FCE52A12A.jpeg But what I’m more excited about is chasing these things around some this year! 264AD8A0-287E-4CCC-9F63-0572549AA117.jpeg 9B16DEE8-E9FB-4676-981B-CF4BC4D4F8B8.jpeg Welp, that’s all the excitement from my cameras so far. Another week or two and the big boys should start showing up once that velvet comes off.

Here a field picture from this mornings dove hunt… it’s the only thing I shot! 4A806282-3D60-4C9E-8904-C84312BA9478.jpeg I did find a pretty good goose feed so hopefully Saturday the ol bang switch will get pulled on some big honkers. Hope everyone had a great weekend and holiday!

So thankful the weekend is over! I was on call the last 96 hours now I am free! I'm going to head out to the deer lease later this morning. I need to check some stands and move a few cameras. I'm going to pull a few cards. Based on what I have seen so far I'm not expecting much.

I think it would be cool to have the hogs be an option. I know the farmers hate them and for that I'm glad we don't have any in my part of the state.

Nice "11" point, I have a couple that look like that too:biggrin:

We don't have wild hogs here, yet. Do they mess with the deer? Or they just now an animal of nature and everyone gets along?

I got bored for a minute at work. Let me know if someone wants a team logo. I personally don't feel we need to switch - but I'll gladly make something if you'd like.

No, they will run off your deer! You don’t want them at all! Here in Oklahoma we’re allowed to hunt over bait. Last year was the first year we’ve had them since we’ve had the lease. I’ve got pictures of deer eating at the bait piles, then a picture of them looking alerted, then the deer are gone and the hogs are there and you won’t see another deer there until the hogs wonder off! Will they run all the deer off the property, Maybe, depends on the number of hogs and the size of property it is!

Man it really depends on what you wanna do, deer wise! We’re all “meat hunters” at heart but were trying to shoot just mature deer for our area. Having the hogs as an option is okay for us for now. But we’ve got to keep them in check so we can have a chance at one of those mature deer. Fortunately for us, the hogs don’t live on us, they just travel through a couple times a week so we still have some good deer hunting most of the time. I could see smaller properties having more of a problem if the hogs just overrun it. That might cause the deer to stay on neighboring properties. I’ll keep y’all updated on how the deer movement is with the hogs already showing up on cameras.

That “11” point will get a pass this year lol.

Card pull was a bust for the most part. I did find two cameras that have been out since last November so that was good. Mostly just the usual doe/fawn/1.5 yo bucks

Did have a picture of a 2-3yo 9 point that may be decent in a couple years. If he can live that long.

I have zero ability in that department. I have always worn my team logo if given the chance.

I wish I could travel and hunt a little more. I’m happy for you guys and look forward to hearing about your trips. Hopefully I can cut back on work in the near future and have the time to do so.

I put out a few vine and rope mock scrapes last year and they seem to work well in the right location. Pretty easy to do and it doesn’t require any scents.

NC opener for me Saturday. Anyone else hunt that day? Hoping a doe comes by so I can cross that first one off the list. Seems like every year the 1st one is always the hardest.
