I just researched this! Decided on this cartridge in anticipation of illinois one day allowing straight wall. I figured i get one all set up and practice just to get a jump start

I’m going to put my wife in for preference points in Iowa for there firearm season so I figured we will need another deer gun.
Super happy with it so far. The little I have shot it I have been very impressed. 4 rounds touching at a hundred and dumped a couple in the ten ring at 200 yards. I’m not going to shoot farther than that. Recoil is like an AR. I went with the Ruger. Mostly based on price.

Good luck to all going out this weekend.

I'll be out again with a rifle. Hoping to stick it out until late morning because a nice buck decided to hang out in front of my stand Wednesday while I was at work around lunch hour.

Welp, I have taken a break from the deer for a few days, mainly because of the 70 degree weather we’ve been having. Tomorrow morning I’ll be out in a field chasing those dove around again. Our December season is here and it should be a good shoot! Will be back at the deer Monday morning!

Well my efforts to keep a couple good bucks alive through the gun season worked. Another week of gun/muzzleloader and we’ll be home free. Of course getting them to survive and come back next year has always been the tricky part.

Dove hunting went good… didn’t kill very many but i look forward to this coming weekend to get back after them.

Had a nice cold front blow through last night which dropped the temps 30+ degrees in the last 12 hours. North wind blowing super hard though so I opted to sit out today. I’ll be back after those deer first thing in the morning though.

We have hurricane winds, here, too. It's 30* colder this morning compared to yesterday. With fresh snow. But, wait....it's be 63 Saturday (with rain).

West - that's a cool buck - will be a stud if he's around next year.

I cannot make it out until Saturday for my next hunt. I will only get a handful of hunts left before season ends.

Its winding down. I watched a corn field the other night i can hunt that has a group of does in it every night. I may try to capitalize on that to give the meat to my inlaws. And get the fifty for the team i already shoulda had :busted:. Other than that im hitting some public this weekend as more of a roll of the dice. Hoping a doe is hot and some late cruising action. Not cold enough to rely on daytime food for big bucks. Need some single digit temps or at least low teens.

Brandon, we seen a couple bucks cruising for the late doe. Unfortunately, haven't found them in the woods. But see 'em dodging out in the fields at night. Today would have been an ideal morning, 22* when I got up. But no worries, will be warm by the weekend. Actually all next week is near 50. I do not get this weather. We are usually buried in snow by now.

I know! Well not the snow part but its like a roller coaster temp wise. Luckily it swings low for sat/sun coming up. Not sure what else to do except scout. Maybe a bump and dump. My guess is the big ones if not out and about will be in the thickest remote locations. See it year after year. Just so hard to get close to them

Yea i think next in range deer may get the pinch in the side. So long as its not a fawn.

I was definitely seeing some 2nd rut activity on the cameras about a week ago.
I have been moving a few cameras around to find out where that buck with all the character is bedded. Pretty sure I know where. I’m not sure he will be killable regardless. I just hope he sticks
    around.
    Good luck everyone!

Still grinding it. I have 1 buck tag left for the Navy Base I work at. My wife is 4 weeks from giving birth but I've been going 3-4 times a week. Season closes here 12/31 then I will be off until mid February until i hunt Florida in the Bowhunting League Showdown.
