That's a bummer, Shocker...but, bless you for thinking of the deer in the aspect of giving it a rest.

It rained all day here yesterday. This week I'm the boss in charge at work and it looks like another wet week. We will see what it brings.

Sorry to hear Brandon. That definitely sucks and can really get into your head. I think we have all experienced this one way or another. I know I have needed a break and time to regroup in the past when this has happened.

I ended up ordering a saddle system from Tethrd. After hanging that set the other day I realized I wanted to try something different. I’m pretty comfortable using sticks and dangling from ropes so other than getting use to shooting that way I think it should be pretty easy transition.

I received the first day light picture of a potential shooter today. It’s time to get after em. Unfortunately the forecast for the week just sucks, I’m hoping they are wrong about all the rain.

yea it really does tear me up. Some people forget they are killing something and let it roll off their back like “no biggie its just a doe”. Well it bothers me bad. Ive only lost a handful of deer in my life personally but it sucks the same every time it happens i actually have trouble sleeping when it happens. All i can hope for now is redemption and setting things right. One thing we did discover between me and the buddy i helped last night is that we both have a little shoulder-phobia thing going on and have both made some “little far back” shots in the last couple years. We both agreed we need to take a little extra time and put our pin where it belongs.

Easier said than done Shocker, its crazy how your body just does its own thing when you are ready to pull that trigger. That's half of what shooting practice is for me in the summer, just getting your body used to the whole process so when the time comes you can settle that pin and let it rip without even thinking about it. When I shot my doe last weekend I had to stop myself once and reset, I could feel myself wanting to shoot to quickly and luckily caught myself.

You'll bounce back quickly and get another deer down and recovered in no time.

Pulled A few cards and moved a couple cams today. Picked up some video of this buck. Looks like around 13 points. I’m hoping I can get some day light pictures of him before I leave for Iowa.
Weather wasn’t as bad as they predicted today. I’m hoping I can get a couple afternoon sits in this week.

Looks like he carries mass throughout his whole rack, hope you get another look at him up close.

It’s weird how you can go through phases or slumps. Ive never had target panic but its more like a brain fog where i just settle my pin center mass instead of taking the time to put my pin in the “V”. I used to be awesome at it. I remember coaching my buddies theough it. Now I’m the one needing to take my own advice. I have pics of deer with perfectly placed shots. Seems like i just need to slow down. Im too old for these kinds of mistakes

You'll get it Brandon, sometimes we all need to talk ourselves through it. Every year when I get back into target practice - I suck. I totally forget what I'm doing. Then I have to go "Oh yeah, stupid. Do xxxx" and I'm good to go.

Thanks Kristen. Im excited to get out again. I shot my bow sunday evening and was feeling pretty good. Made a small adjustment on my release too that helped my group. I hit where i aim i just need to put the pin where it goes! Haha. Oh yea! I ordered the new savage Reneguage for my newest waterfowl gun. Been shooting my benelli the last 10yrs so time for a change. Its a sweet gun. If you or your hubs get the chance to get one in your hands do it!

Never heard of it - but I do love the few Savage's we have. Will have to take a look. If I win a gun at the upcoming gun raffle - I can take value towards any other gun. So I'll pretend I am lucky and see what that day brings.

Good luck! They say +/- 2 days of the 29th. So today-Monday is my guess for folks. It's raining here now...and it's to rain all weekend. I am really tired of rain.

The last time I was out was Monday and I didn’t see a thing. Yesterday and today we are getting rain with some strong winds (up to 50mph gusts). I want to go out tomorrow but it’s supposed to be super windy again so it’ll probably be Saturday before I get back out. I hope my blinds are still standing after this lol. Until then, I’ll just be watching people hunt on YouTube and checking on my crypto investments. If y’all are out, good luck!

On this day in 2017 was the last time my daughter went hunting with me. We had an action packed hunt over a buck decoy 162 yards from where I am currently set up over that same buck decoy.
I’m not sure why it was her last hunt but she hasn’t wanted to go ever since.
I shot a buck and let it go over night because I wasn’t sure about the hit. Turns out it was a good hit and I had great blood found him no problem the next morning.
I’m hoping for a little of that luck tonight.

Sorry guys, feel like I'm a failed member. Dog had surgery yesterday for neutering due to a spot on his testee. Well. Spot was a mast cell tumor attached to scrotum. So he is on a ton of meds and cannot be left alone because he is loaded with stitches and even his pain meds/sedation meds aren't keeping him calm. So I'm stuck at home with him this weekend.

No need to feel that way, Kristen! He’s a part of your family and needs you…. Hopefully he’s alright. Still have plenty of season left!

Our archery season actually ends in two weeks. We have late season but the snow/cold is usually too much for me to handle. We will see where we go next couple weeks. But the pup is doing well, just hoping for the best with results and it doesn't come back. Trying to keep a 120# dog calm is impossible.

    Thank you for understanding!
