It’s all good bud! This little game we play is just for fun and to meet new people. That meat is more important then a few points.
Congrats on the doe, yeah sometimes the picture thing is annoying, I'm often on public what I would call pretty deep in and I don't want to lug my bow in while tracking. No worries on my end. I hunted last night I did see a small buck and a couple doe. Still looking for a good buck or another doe in range. I have a bunch a cameras to check today and lots of pictures to upload if I get time. Keep grinding!
Husband mainly hunts Ohio during archery while I hunt Pennsylvania. Sitting in the tractor dealership this afternoon and ping...he got this picture. Such a different calibration of deer only 20 minutes away.
The funny thing is ive seen where guys on here in the past are like “ i forgot to take pics in all the confusion” or something close to that and im like How could you forget to take a couple pics??? Now i know haha. But yea ill be grinding here with you in about a week or so
Pictures like that are what you wish for every time you get one. Big buck on his feet during the day...gotta love it. Hahahaha! Never say never right! We're still going to win...
So went out to scout today… finally found some acorns that are dropping and lots of fresh sign. Pulled a blind and moved it over there over looking a scrape. I do have a camera on it and I’ll definitely check it when I go in to hunt it. Around here, our bucks don’t normally scrape much. This is actually my first time targeting a scrape, so we’ll see how this plays out! I’m really getting in the mood now! Here’s what came through yesterday evening… nice rack but looks a little young for me, definitely one I’d have to lay eyes on and do the double look at lol.
Had a buck come in grunting this evening. Stopped him at 40 yards. Shot went right over his back when he dropped about 6 inches. O well not my first miss and wont be my last. Bummed out.
Last two years he has shot a nice buck full moon eve or day. Thats tomorrow or Wednesday. He has a goal now.
Thats a pretty decent buck. I let my kill switch make the decisions. Doh! Sorry to hear! No doubt we've all been there. Like Kristen said the best miss is a clean miss.
Unless something happens that keeps me from going, I’ll be headed to the blind that I placed overlooking that scrape. It’s supposed to be warm but a small cold front pushing through with the right wind. I’ve just gotta go sit and see what happens! I know I wont get to go Thursday, and I’ll see what the wind is doing for Friday. This weekend starts Oklahoma’s muzzleloader season so I’m thinking tomorrow is my best chance before the guns hit the woods. I’ll keep y’all updated! If anyone is out and about this evening and tomorrow morning, good luck!
Sounds like a good plan, Good luck! I pulled a couple cards today as I hung a new set and built a mock scrape near "my wife's stand". A couple borderline shooters nothing major. I'm on call this weekend so I probably won't get out to hunt until next week at this point.
Dont be too bummed. At least you arent like me. Put fatal shot on one i never found and the other i couldnt even remember to tale pics for the team
In my area we are going to see a 20 degree drop in temps between today and tomorrow (72 to 52). Looks like rain in the morning but clearing up in the afternoon. I'll be in a tree as soon as the rain stops tomorrow. I've been dying to get out, this will be my first serious sit of the year, I intend to make it count.
Good luck to those who are getting out. I have a water rescue class tonight - so plan on going tomorrow - however, it is an 80% chance of rain. The last two days have been 70* - so I think tomorrow-Saturday will be better hunting since it's going to drop to the 50's again. I put another camera out on Sunday, so I may move my stand back down the gas line if it shows what I am thinking is happening (they're crossing too far behind me that I can't see them).
20 degree drop here as well 79 today 60 tomorrow. I wish i could get out. Im waiting and going to choose wisely. Chomping at the bit to redeem myself
