Been so hot here I have not gone out hunting again. I will for sure though soon. Temps in the 80s still. Drops next week and it should be alot better. Also taking the first week of Nov off to hunt so that should be a good time.
Front is starting here now. Hope to juggle work, kids, fall party (i volunteered to run the hayride, all the kids are pumped ), and hopefully at least a morning of hunting.
It’s just been a crazy year! We finally got a good rain these past couple of days and a good cold front pushing this weekend. Looks like I won’t be taking my nephew hunting so now I’ve got to start preparing for myself to go somewhere.
We have some rain in the forecast Friday/Saturday here as well but I'm hoping it will end in time for an afternoon sit on Saturday. Wind looks better for kiteboarding than it does for hunting but if I wait for perfect conditions I will never go.
We have chances for tornados this afternoon/evening. Tomorrow looks like a wash, too....but same boat for me. If it's not raining and not whipping winds - I'll go out, too.
Taking my kids camping this weekend, but looks like I may sneak out Sunday evening for a quick sit. Good luck Everyone!
Went out yesterday evening but didn’t see a thing. we’re set up this morning in my second spot in a saddle, it’s cold and breezy! I have a good feeling about today. I’ll keep you informed!
Temps dropped from 80 to 55 and breezy today. Rain stopped so I hustled outback. Seen one doe coming in. Since she's single, if she comes to my stand, I'll take a shot.
I seen six doe last night. The one was anywhere from 5-30 yards for over a half hour in the only area I dont have a shot. Go figure! But she didn't bust me, so that's a plus.
So yesterday morning my buddy did shoot one! Unfortunately the deer was hit in the back leg. A couple of dumb mistakes on our part and some equipment error, cause that! But fortunately, she’s okay and still walking and running as of this morning. So our mistakes were, #1. I tried to stop her in high winds and she spooked and #2. He tried to shoot a spooked, quartering to deer. Now to the equipment failure… he failed to check his arrows for any cracks or breaks! That bow popped louder then most guns and just lobbed that arrow out there. How it even hit the deer, I don’t know. We found the arrow just a few yards from where the deer was shot and found the nock between the blind and where the deer was standing. The nock end of the arrow was cracked half way down the shaft.
Getting her prepped and ready! This next coming weekend is when I’m going to be getting serious, as long as it stays cool!
Ugh sorry guys. I put what i thought was two does down but only recovered one and in the mayhem of tracking the second for 7+ hrs my buddy did me a “favor” and actually skinned and hing my deer in his cooler 1/2 hr away befor i could get pics. Oh well im just glad she dodnt go to waste like the second one did. Ill het more points dont worry guys and gals
