Excited and looking forward to our season, I mostly hunt a private 450 acre piece (Central MN) that has been in our family for about 35 years. my grandpa bought 200 originally and we have since bought another 200 with 50 acres of state land that is land locked. I started practicing some habitat improvement about 5 years ago while doing it actively for the last 2 years. I just finished some bedding, waterholes and rub lines this weekend and short of a couple more licking branches and over seeding areas, my habitat improvement for the year is done until after hunting season. Most of my family only gun hunts so I have 450 pretty much to myself. There are a couple of 3 1/2 year olds that roam the property, those are my targets. I plan to utilize a saddle to be very mobile and I still shoot the first bow I ever got in high school, Mathews Switchback XT, 68# with DCA Custom Arrows Easton Axis 340's @420gr including a 100gr rage Hypodermic NC. Look forward to hearing every one else's goals!
vermontwhitetail checking in. I hunt in Central VT and Central NJ. I have 50 acres behind the house in VT that I hunt and have planted some food plots. Not many deer in VT though. My great prospects are on a private 100 acre farm that I hunt in NJ, some decent bucks on trail cam. Ill be in a stand in NJ on September 12!
I hunt 40 acres private in WI, state land in several areas of MI, and sometimes state land in Indiana. I think I am going to hunt some in IL this season also but public land anywhere w/in an hour of me here is premium and crowded. WI is usually my best bet at a good buck but it's looking like a non-existent acorn crop this season, no standing or stream water anywhere w/in a mile or so and the drought has scorched all our clover plots; so unless I get really lucky on one scooting through that may be a bust this year. I will take a doe early this year after getting skunked last year...passed on a few early and regretted it. Had I gotten a doe (or recovered the buck I shot) we would have won.
Some NJ Bucks I'm looking at. I'd really like to shoot the second pic. He's an odd ball 7pt. The other two are nice deer and in another year would be impressive.
Triebs58 checking in I hunt in central wi mostly public land I recently bought a house with 4 acres of land I’m hoping to check out this year I don’t move I. Till next so I haven’t had time to check it my plan is to get a doe early I took my rutcation the end of October and first week of November Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Rusk Chippewa I’ll make down to Columbia county as well might make to some public land in Dunn if Rusk and Chippewa don’t work out Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Jake Cannon here. Hunt primarily in SE Oklahoma, Ouachita National Forest. My best spots are public land, but I do have permissions on some adjacent private parcels that I will try out this year. Have a few cameras running, and getting consistent action. There's a lot of dense forest, no agriculture, so while you don't see a "ton" of deer, there's always a chance to see a dandy. My goals are to get my son his first deer, put one in the freezer, and hopefully get a shot at one of the bucks we've been getting on camera.

a little research into our slow-to-check-in-brethren: Casey J Fosbenner - FNG. Joined Aug 4 2020 and only has 4 posts - all made that day. Not sure how he got drawn. Guessing he will have to be replaced. Nothing personal @HancockCountyIL - another new member. Joined in early July, hit the 25 post mark in late July, not posted since he hit 25 posts but he was on as recently as Saturday. @CMTRAV - he'll be here. He's been a member longer than me; he just doesn't post much at all in the offseason. Once season starts he's really active. Pretty sure I was on a team with him in about 2015/16- good dude @BuckHunterUnlimited - been a member for about a year, was last on about a week ago- guessing he'll be here. @bowcrazy30 - been a member for a long time, doesn't post much. Can't see he's ever done the competition before. PS....please don't make me Captain. I will be Sgt At Arms, Pro Tempore though. Every time I am captain I get skunked!
are you guys good with me bumping LC and letting him know we got 1 that didn't come close to making the 25 post cut? Don't know that we will get our alternate any quicker than the 2 week mark, but rules is rules. I would hate for little homie to kill a buck only to have some stickler make the point that he should not have made the cut from the get go and the entry gets DQd.
