Best of luck Jim! I was just out before work setting up some mock scrapes and tripped over a 1/2 8 point rack. I found some small scrapes by my stand tree so I set a drip on them.

Congrats again Matt! How long are the tines? that is one fine lookin buck! now if the rest of us come thru with some bone, maybe we'll be the "replacements" for the top spot. Trip delayed for one day, I'm huntn local tomorrow morning and heading out late morning. Not a thing tonight, but a perfect night as far as weather goes. Can't wait till tomorrow, huntn up north. The only bad thing is I talked with 130 woodsman who is huntn were I'm goin, and he said it's been dead for a week now. Anyway, good luck again to everyone else on our team.

Nice Matt. Came home to vote. Vote 35 in wadena county. Back to the woods. Its been slow up there. Early last week i saw alot of deer a few shooters. Nothing huge. A skiff of snow tday will make it easier to pattern them. Wish me luck i am going to need it.

Close call yesterday evening. I walked right into thick alders about 50 yards from neighbors standing corn. I was or I should say I was only 8 feet due to small diameter trees. Sprayed down with primos earth scent and by 4 pm had three doe come out of thicket not 5 yards away. They never smelled me and fed right past me but they did notice me. I had 4 doe behind me with a buck grunting but no shot due to being thick. Great night!

Thanks again guys... One thing I like to do is rattle, especially in early November. This time of year I like to rattle every 30 mins to an hour in fact. It's paid off for me. Good luck guys...I will still be out on some of the weekends targeting does.

That's cool Matt. What do you use to rattle with? Real antlers, rattle bag?

I use a rattle bag because it's easier than carrying a set of antlers in every time. I will probably invest in the Knight & Hale rattling system next year.

How often does every one else rattle during the rut?

Last year was the first time I tried it. I did call one in but no shot. I tried about a 1/2 hour before i was getting ready to leave.

I got out yesterday for my first all day sit. I had a young buck( 6 pt), come right in at shooting time so I filmed him for a 10 minutes. I saw a doe running from a buck about 75 yards away. I heard a buck grunting and breaking sticks behind me about 60 yards about 3 pm. Nothing to shoot yet.
