Well boys my season starts tomorrow and im PUMPED!!! It's been 5 years and 2 deployments since ive been able to bow hunt, not to mention have a spot all set up and ready to go! The weather is supposed to be pretty good, some rain mid day possibly into the evening tomorrow. sunday should be the money maker, no rain and it's supposed to be cold, high of 51* low of 34* I've got 4 bucks that i know of in the area one good one, so we'll see how it goes. Either way its a blessing to be able to take advantage of this season!

I manage to get out in blind set up again with the same results, nada. I am thinking most of the deer are staying in the huge acres of standing corn.

How's the foot holding up Jim? Well at least you got out in the fresh air. I wonder how Alex made out?

I've seen a lot of trees a few squirrels and one coyote. Not what I had in mind just finished setting up my ground blind in a different spot. And of course I set the blind up for my typical west wind and as I'm sitting here at my truck waiting for my brother-in-law I see we have an east wind. Not as pumped as I was Friday :(

Leg is doing great Bob. Thank you for asking. I wanted to get out today but with rain and not seeing anything, I wanted a change of scenery but I am limited to my blind right now so I opted to stay home and watch baseball and football. The temp is 40 degrees here with a mist, man I love hunting those kind of days. I hope they cut the corn shortly and then it will get good.

Hi Alex, what popup blind do you have? I have two primos blinds, ground maxx's and crusher blind. Liven both but crusher is my favorite. Harvested deer from both, but had deer walk into crusher.

To be honest Jim I have no idea what kind it is. My dad bought a new one and asked me if I wanted it so of course I added it to my pile:). I'll look to see if it has a name after, cuz I'm sittin in it now :D. I know I don't particularly like it, it is old enough that the inside isn't black like the new ones. It just has that "unfinished side of the fabric" look and it's small I've got the entrance door wide open behind me just do I can draw my bow lol. One a good note my wind changed for the better!

I hunt mn. Our season started 15 sep. I just choose not to hunt till late oct. I hunt a huge track of ground. The big woods. No ag field for many miles. I hook up to my hinting shack and move up there till i kill him. Ive been skunked last 3 years to picky i guess. Im due. Im 42. Have a 17 yr old son. 15 yr old son 5 yr old son. 2 yr old daughter. I own a small excavation business we normally work till about 1 nov then things freeze up. I shoot a mathews monster. 55 lb draw. 400 grain arrow at 290 fps. If you havnt tried one of these monsters i recomend it.

Wow Matt, do you have a tree stand set up there? He looks like a 10 point? What's after there, do you have something in the ground?

All the trees are too small to put up a tree stand close to this area. This was an old pasture about 10 years ago, you can see an old fence post to the left of the buck. I hunted a blind in the pasture last year but only seen a couple does and I really prefer to be in a tree. I do have a set hung just across the creek about 150 yds away but I normally stay out of there until late Oct. I'm pretty sure it's a doe bedding area.

All I have there in the picture is a white salt block which you can barely see now(time for a new one) and some left over corn cobbs... Sometimes I'll buy a bag of corn if I have enough change in my pocket.

As far as the buck goes...I'm not sure about shooting him. I only get 1 buck tag in Kansas so... :deer: ... He is a big bodied deer but I'm not sure he will score more than 120. He does have a kicker behind his left brow tine and maybe a sticker on the right side. I don't know? We'll see what happens if he presents himself.
