Quite cocky there Fergy! I was bear hunting the 1st week of September. There's critters other then whitetails to hunt you know.
This time of the year sucks for recovery. still way too much green to block our view. Stupid green stuff! I would think with the heat he would have been stinking up a storm by today. I'm not an expert by anymeans, so I ask "How long does it take for a deer to die on one lung?". I hope that your still able to get out there today and look for him. It would be pretty sweet if you were able to find him alive and put him down there. Win win with that idea.
If you 1-lunged him he might go over a mile if you double lunged him he should be over 200 yards away... you might have hit a little to far back and just missed with lungs and hit the liver. He would still only go around a mile TOPS usually they lay down if there gut shot. I'm guessing you went past him, maybe he's down in a hole or a creek bottom. Gather as many people as possible and storm the woods if you want to find him really bad.

Well... I took a half a day off work to continue looking for my deer and nothing... This is really sucking
