I shot him at 7:54. Bumped him at almost 10. Then bumped him at 12:30 and gave him till 5:30 but didn't find much of a blood trail after his bed.
There's a swamp I believe. I've never been in there so I'm gonna have to look. This is only the second time I've hunted this property. I saw him on Saturday in the AM and PM on the same trail so I ser up there this morning and low and behold, here he comes. We never got him on camera or anything and never shows up in the fields so I'm not too familiar with his patterns outside of the trail he was on.
He ran off into a laurel grove kinda thing. It's real thick in there so I think I'm just gonna have to put my boots to the ground and look for a deer instead of follow a blood trail.
Look at an ariel photo, and look for water down hill and thick thick brush. Crawl though if you have to. Stick with it and stay optimistic (as hard as that is to do)
As you go through, stop and look back. Sometimes you can look back and spot the white of their bellies, which is easier to spot obviously.
It must just be one of those kind of years for you bud. Congrats on the doe and best of luck searching for your buck!
^^^ Look for water, then try to check blow downs or any bits of cover where he could hole up. Good luck, congrats on the doe
dang man thats just some bad luck, but if u think u got one lung hes down somewhere ur just going to have to wear the rubber out on your boots. idk about where your at but u can look for birds circling and listen for yotes at night. it tough because you dont wanna stir up your hunting property but u gotta give it your best. good luck man
Found him! He was DEEP. About 600 yards from where I last bumped him. I put on over 3 miles zig zagging trying to find him.
HELL YA MAN way to stick with congrats he a good looking deer, heck with ur guys does and that buck we might jump into the lead for a lil bit
nicely found bud! But sadly I hate to inform you he cannot be used in the competition...reason..hang on I'll come up with one haha!
Congrats on finding the buck. Hope it all provided a lesson or two in tracking and hunting in general- that's why things like this happen.
Congrats on finding your buck. You should update your lost deer thread so everybody can see the happy ending. Again congrats.
Chris way to stick with it...now get those 2 pics of each your doe and buck up, sit back and cheer the rest of us on!!!
