Guys. Saw a booner this morning. I know he was 150. That doesnt happen too often in AR. I had 5 shooters come by me this morning. Passed on a nice 8 to try and get the big boy. Last two days have been world class hunting. Good thing is Im on vacation all week. Planning atleast 2 all day sits. Sent from my MB860 using Tapatalk 2
Must be nice to have 2 buck tags for bow season. Stupid Wisconsin Sent from my SCH-R760 using Tapatalk 2
Yeah it is. I usually end up takin a management buck with the tag but this year has been phenomonal. Sent from my MB860 using Tapatalk 2
Well here we go....last night hunting one of RD's exit routes out of his bed with pre-dawn or morning North winds.... Bought 15 minutes to go till end time...hear a buck coming off the property to my west and behind me....could tell by his gate. Heard him jumped the ditch with a thud, big thud, then proceeded to walk through the NOISY leaf covered forest floor...then silence. The silence told me he'd reached the two-track we mowed like a week ago to keep our entrance noise level down...now he had a decision to head north my way or more than likely East or South....I could hear him grunting but couldn't see a thing. I began to hear steps again which meant he hadn't chose north...he's steps were getting further and was angling away. Still grunting a ton! I quick un hook my release raise my arm up (grunt tube strapped to arm) and do two quick grunts one aggressive second quiet...bingo! The loud steps are coming directly to me....he gets about 20 yards behind me before I realize which side he'll be on...I turn peep light on quick and hook release prepared to lay RD or this monster unknown down....grunting more I can tell decent body with each step....I turn he pops out 11 yards to my right and stops trying to locate the buck he'd heard postering and grunting the whole time...I let down, shut peep off and watch as the nice young 8 (100inches roughly) lives to see another day...... ......Man I thought I had him fellas...over 100 hours dedicated to hunting RD and him alone (will shoot something else big if happens though) and I thought I had him :D This ends story time with Ty
I'm going to assume since nobody has posted tonight that everyone is busy tracking/processing their kills? I'm slightly jealous of those of you hunting as I have been completing house projects for the wife for the past 3 days
Unfortunately M3, no tracking/processing here. I hate to whine, but dang, this has been the toughest start to the season for me in a long time. I hadnt even had a doe in range. And our rut is still 2 months from now. Could be a long season if things dont turn around. Hopefully, my Ohio trip pans out next week. First time ive ever been. Cant wait.
Still hanging, processing tomorrow probably. This time change screws me for hunting after work. Really bumming seeing other guys trucks parked, on my way to work, knowing I am missing perfect hunting days this week! Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk 2
I'm going nuts not being able to hunt...but I only can afford so much vacation time. It's coming though, I've already put in over 100hours dedicated to RD and he's slipped me 4 times we know based on cameras where I chose one bed exit and he used another.....I'm trying fellas, it ain't gonna be from a lack of trying!
Well guys my good season just went down the drain. I shot a decent 8 pt this morning, but failed to recover. Made a good shot at 20 yds. Blood trail was very clear for 200 yds then it made a loop and dried up. I am absolutely sick about it. I walked circles around the area for 6 hours. Never found any other sign. This makes the second deer I've lost in 10 years of bowhunting. I dont understand how a deer can go over 200 yds with blood pouring out like it was on this guy.........sigh Sent from my MB860 using Tapatalk 2
I thought the shot may have been a hair high. But still low enough for lungs. I was confident I would find him. Sent from my MB860 using Tapatalk 2
ryno dogs legal to track with where you are? Worth a shot, I've heard of them things picking up 4 day old trails.
Keep after him buddy. Those animals are so resilient it amazes me. Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk 2
well guys tons of bucks cruising the homestead property. I've only hunted it twice since my time on RD has had me hunting the Swamp Property, but got some good ones cruising through quite frequently...couple may be shooters even! My father passed up the first 8, and I was shocked to learn that...he's a better buck than I think I realize from his description and if he lives he'll be crazy nice. For viewing pleasure I'll post a few...many more young ones all over the card pull though! *oh and fyi, the "Bow" spoken of in the pictures is a massive 9 pointer we've been chasing for 2 years now that hasn't proved whether he's alive still...hoping the one dark photo is him.
Oh and the buck named Hobble, hard to tell from the pics but his back left leg is really only useful for balance and a crutch of sorts. Wounded it a few winters ago. He's a 4 year old believe or not and doesn't move the best but is smart enough and elusive enough to survive
