Well they are cutting the bulk of my oak trees and I didnt get the chance to plant my food plots so Im low on food. But Im sure Ill find some. Yes, I am trying to stay positive about it...its just not easy. Maybe I will get lucky and they will get delayed a week or 2 and Ill get on a buck early. Time will tell.

Sorry about the bad news John...As much as I would like to reassure you the hunting will be o.k, in my experience it will suffer. I had a pipeline put in on my property last year and it all but ruined my hunting that year. They finished up my pipeline about this time last year but the deer never really returned until december. While I did see some deer during archery season, the numbers were way down compared to previous years. On a brighter note, the deer numbers are way up this year because of the pipeline. I had them plant clover on it and I'm getting pictures of atleast 8 different bucks and lots of does, but no real big bucks. I think the most you can hope for is the project gets delayed 4 to 6 weeks so you can get some quality archery hunting in.

Yeah that is exactly what I am hoping for. I hope there is a delay. And I am looking forward to next season forsure. they are following powerlines that are there but will have better soil when they are done and they should be planting some game mix, so it wont be to bad then. Just really hate their timing. They were suppose to start last dec, then may, but now they claim its official. permit is complete and they are ready to roll. We will see soon. I can get a good distance away but like I said its not the greatest patch of woods. But it will have to do. Hopefully opening day is good to me if nothing else lol.

I wish. But here in PA we can not do that. Have to stop 30 days before season if I remember the rules right. I use many different things for in front of my cams but during season I put a stop to it. I am pretty sure you can as long as you are not hunting over it, but just to be safe I try not to. I wish we could hunt over minerals at least...I dont feel it is even close to baiting. But, I guess the law will win that fight so I will not even try. I know they mention minerals in the book so its a no go for me.

well poof on that idea. well now your ninja skills come into play grasshopper. you may still have early season success, deer like turned up dirt. man if you could get them to plant some clover and wheat and maybe rye grass on that powerline next year would be good all season on that thing.

Yeah I am super positive for next year thats for sure. It really can help my property out which make sit hard to complain about. Just seems like this year I have worked harder, spent more money and been more excited then ever before. So it was a bit of a hit to the gut. Im sure I will find a way to be successful and if nothing else still enjoy my time in the woods as always. Im lucky to be alive and healthy enough to hunt so life cant be to bad right?

that's right brother! i have invested alot this year also even though i hunt public land. god got this and he will make everything happen in his time. we are breathing and able to enjoy this passion we love so much. i have been looking forward to this season more than any other season i have hunted. just special this year, my son and i both taking up bows, he is starting to show a little more interest again that has been missing since he killed his first deer about 4 years ago.

man it is. we were together when he got his first deer. a nice 30 yard shot straight down the hill from us. it was funny he did not even see the deer until it started to walk away. you would have thought that spike was king kong. the day will come when you get to share those moments brother and when they do, man the feelings and memories are priceless. i was more excited than he was i think.

That's a tough break, John. Sorry to hear about that. If it weren't so far I'd say buy a TN or AR tag and come on down.

I know I haven't been on here much, but I've had a lot going on. I went to the dermatologist to get this little thing cut off my ear and as luck would have it they had to cut pretty deep. The very nice looking doctor  told me the second time she was cutting that if she had to cut any deeper she would have to refer me to a plastic surgeon to repair the damage. That made me feel really good. Fortunately she didn't have to cut a third time. I could go into more detail but that would just be gross.

The upside is that they got it all. The downside is they put me on an antibiotic called "Cipro", which is short for some weird name. Anyway, it has a list of side effects and I seem to have them all. Confusion, dizziness and a touch of nausea. There are others, but that's gross too. Anyway, the worst part about this antibiotic is that it weakens your tendons, so no working out, heavy lifting, or in my case, no shooting my bow for two weeks. I could go ahead and shoot, but according to the doctor I run the risk of tearing a tendon if I do. I won't chance it. I should still be good to go for next weekend, though, Aaron. I only have to take this crap for one week, so I will have been off of it for the required week by next Friday. Well, almost, but close enough.

Aaron saw me today at work with my ear all bandaged. He'll probably attest to the fact that I wasn't feeling very well.

Anyway, good luck this weekend Aaron, and the same to anyone else that's hunting. I'll be in Great Lakes, Illinois seeing my youngest daughter graduate from Navy boot camp. Or, as my daughter put it, I'll be seeing my "stunningly awesome daughter in her blazing white uniform" graduate.

Wow very glad they were able to get it all man. And thanks for the invite. Think i will be fine, just gonna have to work harder. My patents called the company and asked if they can hold off a month. He said he will run it by his boss and get back to us. I'm sure they won't but there is some hope. Congrats on your daughter also by the way. I know you must be proud as can be. Have a safe trip, get better, and can't wait till you are back to 100% and ready to kill.

So Aaron, 3 more days, you ready to rock ninja?
