Fort Campbell, huh? I've got some friends that are asking me to make a trip there with them this year too. I've told them that I'll go, but we don't know yet when it will happen. From what I hear it's a great place to hunt. Good luck on your trip there!

our season opens up here on the first of october through december 15th. im surrounded by thousands and thousands of acres of public land at my house where ill probably do most of my hunting. its mostly just big woods with a lot of elavation changes and thick swamps spreadout. i plant clover plots on the old skidder trails out here. ive got an 11 month old son so my hunting time is limited a bit. i also have about 200 acres behind my moms about an hour away which we have a couple food plots on. theres a real nice big 10 probably 4 1/2 year old showing up there, ill upload a pic or 2 of him when my step dad emails them to me. hope somebody puts one on the ground soon with all our seasons starting to open slowly but surely

chris that sounds like some good places with multiple positive situations available for success. littlechief starts tomorrow in missiouri. several of us open next saturday (about time ). i only have public land to hunt on so no food plots, but there are deer just have to work harder. unless i can talk my in-laws into letting me go behind their house. it's good for at least a doe.

Sorry guys. I was in the stand two hours yesterday morning and it started to rain. The radar showed a big storm system moving in and the forecast showed rain through Monday. We had to pack up and leave at noon yesterday to beat the hard rain out of the hills. It sucks as the weather forecast earlier said it was supposed to be a perfect weekend. Oh well, there will be a lot more weekends.

Got pics of the buck I call split brow buck without his fuzz. He isnt the biggest buck I have running around Im sure but he is the biggest I caught on cam so far, so he is top of my hit list. Easy mid 130s, nice buck forsure. I know him from last year also, and hoping he is like he was last year. I seen him at least 5 different times last season and could have shot him so many times. Hoping I get lucky with em this year. He is the first 2 pics. The last is a new buck. Cant tell how big his g2 is on hos left side. If it is as long as his other wise he is a nice buck. Will be hard to pass but I think he is just under my 120 minimum. Will be a stud 8pt next year if he keeps growing.

Yeah the 8 is not on my list at the moment. Maybe last day of the season but I doubt it. He has awesome long tines just not big enough yet. With line length like that he will be a monster in a year or 2.

well we got the call today...construction starts Oct 1st on the pipeline at my house. That includes cutting down the trees that buck is standing in from them trailcam pictures I just posted and the treestand that is just behind the cam. Man, I have quite the sick feeling at the moment. Now I know after a bit the deer will get used to the construction and maybe by the rut the hunting will pick up, but Im not holding my breath. I have a good bit of land that wont be effected by the work, but its mostly open and boring woods that deer dont have a big reason to be in. Sure they cruse through it time to time, but not really taking one specific trail or area. Nothing holds them to them woods, so sitting in them is like buying a scratch off ticket...maybe youll get lucky but most likely youll be just out of range of winning. Not near as excited as I was yesterday now. I knew it was coming but hoped they would hold off through hunting season. Sure, no matter what I love the woods and do not hunt just to kill...but really going hunting knowing your odds on an already tough sport just got cut a ton...well that makes heading out pretty tough. Hopefully its a good learning experience at least and will better me as a hunter in the future.
