I'm going to be hunting hard this weekend guys! I'm not going to be super picky, because that's not me. but I will shoot what I can.

I will be down at our place in Indiana on Friday and I will be hunting until Monday night. I am hoping the daytime movement picks up this week and things start getting exciting. We have a couple shooters running around and we also have a 7 pointer we call Hoover that has been moved to the hit list because he is a "Bully Buck" he actually isn't very big maybe 100" but he seems to push all of our younger bucks around and we worry he will drive them from our property especially since some of them have some serious potential. So if Hoover comes around I will probably shoot him but hopefully our Big 10 decides to come out and play instead.

Have we got the rack scored yet? we need to get those points up to keep putting pressure on the top 4

No score yet. Giving the blow flies a little more time to do their job before I tackle that task. I checked it tonight and it should only need another day or so to get past the worst smelling stage.

If we boil our own skulls thats how we do it. We bury it for a month or so and just cover the horns. then we pick the chunks off and starts the boiling process. Actually if you have an old pot and a turkeyfryer just boil some water and dip the skull cap into the water. that should take care of it.

I could go for a bluegill dinner right about now. We usually have a game and fish fry a couple times a year and it is some good eats! Everything from Rabbits, deer, quail, to bluegill and catfish.

Well I am battling some sinus issues this week hopefully it clears up so I am not wiping my nose every 5 minutes or coughing out in the woods this weekend. Maybe I will see a god buck at first light and I won't have to worry about it! That would be nice!

Idk how many of you will be putting down the bow to pick up the boom stick in a couple weeks, but i'm hoping most other teams will. I personally will not, i'll have the Mathews in hand all season except maybe a week or so if i go to MS. I just pick up a another job at Bass Pro in the Archery department so my hunting may get cut down to just the weekends. But since the time changes sunday that'll be all i get any way since i dont get off until 330 anyway.

Oh Sh!T we got a Bass Pro guy and a Scheels guy! ok who's gonna go get a job at Cabela's? We need to cover all our markets here guys.

I do pick up the boom stick for both IL and IN. I will turn Gun hunter for a week. But that could change depending on how my bow hunts go in Indiana. I have the tag bundle which means I can kill 1 buck and 2 does during any season. So if I can get a buck and doe during archery then I won't fill my last doe tag for shotgun until the late winter hunt so I can keep bow hunting here in IL. IDK we will just have to see how the cards fall.

This weather we are having has given me a pretty good cold. I leave for Indiana tomorrow morning and there is no way I am letting this cold slow me down. There is going to be a 10 degree drop in the high temps from today till Saturday and an even bigger drop in the over night lows. Plus add in the rain storm that will have moved threw today and tonight I think this weekend could be some prime hunting! If the deer aren't on their feet moving I will be prety dang suprised, AND pissed cause I spent all weekend out in the woods with a stupid cold!

Cody Congrats on the new job!

Joe, Get better and kill something!

Jake, Did you give up on Mr. Clean now that your Dad said he's to small? (that's funny)

Everyone else Good Luck this weekend. I'll be checking here for updates and waiting for texts to come with good news. I got the green light to go to a buddy's farm and whack a doe so I might be in a stand this weekend too.

I'm a little worried about this weekend. last weekend was the definition of slow. On my commute to work ALL week I haven't seen one deer. I normally see several a day.

I'm going to be hunting as hard as I can, I have a head cold. That's what Day Quil is for.

I'm hoping someone flips the switch this weekend, because right now, it's gonna be hard to get outta my warm bed tomorrow morning.

Finally put the tape to my buck. 91 3/8 by my best effort. I'm gonna put together a post for the scoring thread but it'll take a little time. My computer took a dump so I'm having to use tapatalk and it sucks royally. Good luck to everyone! I'm heading out this week some time to try to put down another doe.

Well, The wind was terrible last night. I saw a total of one deer all weekend.

I'm thinking next weekend will be the ticket. Good luck to any of you that are hunting this week.

I let a small 5 point walk last night. I'm not going to lie at 30 yards i thought it was a doe and it almost got shot. I was fixing to draw when i noticed the small horns on him. He then came straight in and walked through every shooting lane from 30 yards until he was sniffing my back pack at the base of my tree.

As I said yesterday, I let a hunting buddy of mine sit in my stand where I shot my buck. There seems to be a lot of movement around there. He shot this 8 pointer right in front of my camera. I went and pulled chips this morning and this is what I found. You can see the arrow on the right side of the deer and it never made and exit wound. He got both lungs.

    Middlecam4 11-4-13 141.jpg

This is the point of impact. The deer ran about 120 yards.
