Cody I'm up north of you about 3 hours. I hunt 500 acres of private farm land in Winnebago County most of the time. I have a couple different 100 to 150 acre farms to hunt also plus a ton of public. We have 4 guys that hunt the 500 and between us we have 6 shooters on camera from 130 to 160 or so. I have a big 10 that we figure is about 20" wide and around 150 that is in love with one of my cameras. I hope to see him opening week. I also have two nice 8's and a freak 7ptr that I would just have to shoot. Last year I shot a 12 pointer with a 18-7/8 I.S. spread on the 3rd night of the season. I'll get some pictures up soon.

    wisbh,

Thats awesome if you know where some public land that splits us in Wisconsin i'd love to meet up and hunt with ya! I'm trying my best to find some public land on the border that has good potential so i get my season started early as possible and to give me more places to hunt. If you know any please share it with me!

I do not know the public land to far south of me. I do know some around here that has zero pressure for bow season. At least that's the way it was last year. I would assume that anything within 1 to 2 hours of the state line would have lots of pressure. Not sure though cuz I've never hunter down there.

Yea everything i've looked at around the line has looked to have a lot of pressure. I havent hunted it but everytime i've scouted its either been a hell of walk from parking to any decent looking spots or i've ran across 7-8 other people looking as well.

I'm sure most of northern Il. public is highly pressured also. I would love to hunt down there someday. For now though you should figure out a way to sneak into Jfergus7's stands since he says he has the good ones!!

Here in Champaign County I hunt a small patch of timber that is surrounded by ag fields and other clumps or small timber. There is always a handfull of big bucks killed in my area but I have yet to connect with one. Last year I had a 150" 9 point come in but offered no shot. It is pretty routine to see 300lb deer around here because food is so plentiful you just have to get them out of the fields in OCT.

I also gun/bow hunt in Wayne County IL on our old family farm. This is more of a bonding deer camp type trip with my dad, brother and a couple cousins. You always have the potential to see a big deer but the hunting pressure from locals is pretty high and the level of poaching is pretty bad down in that area. Most people who hunt the area have a If it's brown it's down mentality because they assume it will be killed by a poacher or local who is tresspassing. It really is a shame because I love that place.

My last spot I hunt is my inlaws 225 acres in Ohio County Indiana. This is where I will put the most time in. I have 2-3 good shooters on Camera. I have one huge ten and a tall 8 that I am after. The 8 pointer could probably go another year but he is way bigger than anything I have taken so far with a bow so he made the list. I am going down this weekend to check my cameras for the last time until opening weekend. If I have any good pics I will post them when I get back on Sunday.

    Wisbh,
My name is Anthony. I'm looking forward to my trip up to FC. I usually don't get to go up there this early so maybe I can get a jump. On the deer before the guns start firing. I seen some good bucks up there during the rut the last few years just haven't had a shot on them.

If I had to take a guess it Looks like the pick was taken on 7/23 so he still had a week or two of growing left! I know velvet makes them look bigger but in this case it doesn't matter much. I would say 170's.
    I could be way off.

Jake what do you think? is he maybe a 4 1/2 yr old?

I know there's still time but i went ahead and messaged the guys that haven't checked in and ask that they check-in ASAP and to be brainstorming on a team name and Avatar! We are way behind every other team because we were the "rejects" and got put on a team much later than everyone else. We should all be brain storming on a avatar for our team! If you cant tell i'm extremely excited about this contest. I have a extremely competitive personalty and love contest like this. Give it a couple weeks and i'll be trying to make bets with-in our team nothing serious but its just the way i am!
