I'm thinking they'll really start getting after it Sunday or Monday. Cool down this weekend but really windy Saturday. I'm going to sit the morning where I sat tonight (where the does have been) and if it isn't productive I'll probably move for the afternoon. Like I said if I don't get one of them I'll be very surprised to see them after rifle season. Here's hoping.

I am super pumped about my morning/afternoon hunt! On my afternoon bus route (before football practice) I saw two bucks. One was just off a busy county road, between two stops. He was a spike, but the beams were 10-12 inches long. The other one was just off some woods and within city limits. This was a shooter, I would saw an 8 pointer and maybe pushing 120 (a shooter for this guy!). I will be in my stand at 5:40 waiting on shooting light!

Gotta love the excitement. Good luck.

I saw a young 7 pointer this A.M. Just watched him. Hard to take a shot when you know what else is out there. Sat a different stand tonight didn't see anything. I will be sitting in the stand I saw the 7 pointer from tomorrow A.M. for a couple hours then I will take the stand down.

I also regret to inform the team that I will be joining the orange army come Saturday morning. It's a two week enlistment. If I kill a buck with my rifle I can not shoot another deer in the zones I hunt. Good for me, bad for team. Either way I'll be happy. Happy to have a deer or happy to be able to keep hunting.

Kern, I would like to wish you luck. I hope you do well. Any chance you take a doe with the riffle and then get a monster buck with your bow later?

Bucks only in the entire northeastern part of the state. One buck. No matter the season you take it in. DNR was a little to liberal with the antlerless tags the last 4-5 years and now they are trying to swing it back. It seems they like to take an all or nothing approach.

Picked the wrong stand this morning. Ugh. So bummed. This buck walked past two of my other stands. Once at 4 so way before sunrise, and the other stand at 6:45. Heard a shot from a neighbor at about 7, so I'm thinking there is a good chance this guy got shot. :( ImageUploadedByTapatalk1415481499.148884.jpg

Well I worked all weekend to help the farmer get the crops out so I didn't get to hunt this weekend except for a late hunt this evening and wouldn't you know it we got 100 of his 185 acres of crop out and the deer showed up in the fields. I saw a giant dogging a doe in the field and up into the timber he was grunting the whole time and when another buck came out he let out a snort wheeze which I had never heard from a deer and that other buck hightailed it out of there. I didn't shoot anything but needless to say an awesome evening in the stand.

who is going out today or Tuesday? I am hitting it on both! Then heading an hour southwest of here for a Friday/Saturday combo at the deer camp. These will be my last hunts before the orange army hits the Central, IL woods and shoots the hell out of everything

Well I tagged a buck with my rifle. It was a little 8 pt. I may have been a little trigger happy. I have 78 hours logged in the stand this year and he was only the second deer I had seen.

I did come to learn that I still have the opportunity to party hunt with my bow. So I am still in the game. The tough part will be getting any one to come hunt in the snow and freezing temps. Hope everyone is enjoying their time in the tree.

Rifle season starts tomorrow here in Missouri I'll be out but don't expect much action the last 11sits have produced on small 6 pointer I switched to hunting my brother in laws farm in hopes that deer activity here was better but after talking to him and checking trail cams it's not sounding very promising but I'll still be out there trying. On a positive note for the late season I got permission to 4500 acres that has not been hunted in 17 years. It's also an area that is restricted to archery equipment only and the land owner has pictures from his security hate camera of some really nice bucks so I'm excited to get out there!

Well guys it wasn't with my bow but I did get a decent buck on the ground. Even better news I saw another buck 2 minutes after I shot mine that was even bigger he's next in the list for the ol stick and string.
