Ever had a squirrel give you the bird? Happened to me and my dad both last year, funniest thing we had ever seen and heard, they yelled at us too. (bark, bark bark, bark, bark bark bark)

Didn't get out this weekend. Doing some fall things around the house and yard so I don't need to worry about them when the rut kicks in.

was out a few times, got rained out this weekend. i don't mind light rain but lightning and treestands don't mix too well. weather is getting a bit cooler in the morning also and supposed to be nice next weekend.

That's a hard task. Is the land open or mostly timber?

Went out on Sunday. Almost hit a deer driving to the hunting spot. Got in, and didn't see much. Haven't had much time to hunt lately because my wife has had a crazy amout of tests for school, and my 1 year old is getting her molars, which are NOT fun.

Timber. The brush gets super thick at times, but there are a few spots where it's just tree trunks. It was a huge gamble because I didn't know the land at all. Just a good morning out in it. Of course the other spot I looked at that day had logging all over it :busted:

Had an encounter with one of my target bucks last night, but unfortunately he winded me. Blew a couple times and then packed up shop, taking two does with him. Never saw me but definitely knew I was there. I've been waiting for the right wind to hunt this stand and got it last night - or so my weather app said. Although I was dead down wind of him (and down hill), I think I need a stiffer breeze. I'm guessing the thermals killed my chances. Two hunts from this new stand and I've been winded both times. Clearly I've got a few things to learn about thermals. Think I'll give that spot a rest for a while.

Glad to see some have been hitting the woods already this season. I have made plans to get out for a weekend trip to a State Park in the famous "Golden Triangle" area here in Illinois next weekend. Then head back up for a 2week hunt starting Veterans Day through the Gun Opener. Here at home waiting for the Farmers to get more crops out to funnel the deer into my woods along the Mississippi. Good Luck to All.......

I hunt for the freezer, so I probably would have put an arrow through him.

Great video, nice to see him out and the daylight. I got out for three sits this weekend and could have had shots at a couple fawns but the does wouldn't cooperate. Scrapes really started showing up this week though.

Hopefully I can get out this weekend. My daughter has been sick the last few weekends, and other life things got in the way. I have a week off in November, so hopefully I can hit the rut right, and drop a monster! Its not the most likely scenario, but a guy can dream, right?
