um check your rest maybe it got knock aroud a little. do you have pictures of your arrows with the quickfletch.
And the reason I did it is because two of my arrows fletchings got messed up. Ripped one off and shot through one
im not sure what to tell you. i cant think of a reason why thats happening. maybe someone else can chime in with some help.
That sounds like quite a pickle regarding the quick fletch. Here's my thoughts, and I'm no expert so take it for what it's worth. First, You mentioned the butt end of your arrows flying squirrely. How much do quick fletch weigh compared to just regular vanes? Added weight to the rear of the arrow could definitely effect flight. Next, what type of rest do you shoot? What type of vanes did you shoot prior to the quick fletch? Is there any obvious rest to vane contact as the arrow is leaving, you'd probably see marks of this occurring on your vanes. Lastly, any opportunity to get to a good proshop and shoot through some paper to see exactly how your flight is and see if professionals can offer suggestions? I hope you get it all figured out, let us know of any progress and good luck!
i talked to him a little he has a QAD rest and the arrow is just falling off in a sense and not getting to the target so i thought maybe his sight got bumped while he had new strings put on. hes shooting tonight so we will have more answers later
Goldenrectangle, I believe you killed more of the neighbors corn than I did. Guys we were shooting at 50 yards last night at dark thirty. We had a great practice session and my ginger friend even took out some legs!!! As my nephew says when he's counting down to something big, only 11 more sleeps before hunting season!!
Well I shot more. Still jacked. Going to have to take it to the shop. Ripped 2 out of 6 of the quick fletch off. Very frustrated but we will see what happens. Arrow flight is horrible. The back end seems to e kicking forward each time I shoot.
I made a decision today fellas that I hope I dont regret by the end of the season....and I hope doesnt hurt our scorecard I have 4 target deer I'm going after in the early season before new bucks from public ground get pushed onto us from hunting pressure and to rut. These top 4 consist of a big clean 10 (mid 160's), a 10 with brow kicker (mid 150's), a giant clean 8 that is probably spread 20", and then another giant chocolate racked 8 that has a G2 that'll probably go 14 inches long. Id be happy to shoot any of these deer early in the season....here's where it gets hairy... Ive got a buck ive been on the fence about all summer long. He's a 9 with a small drop sticker on his right beam and a 5" kicker off his left brow that goes behind his ear and curls around. I'm guessing he'll be pushing the high 140's-low150's, His rack has a ton of character, he's got a body like a horse, but he has a baby face, no sagging brisket, no grey coloration, and no sway in his back. I'm guessing he's a 2.5 year old I passed him this morning at 12 yards, multiple times.... He came in, and put on a show. He sparred with a 2 year old short tined 11, and high/tight 8. Hit the licking branches, made a scrape. It was an awesome encounter. He provided me with no less then 6 or 8 opportunities to slip an FMJ all up in his business, but I couldnt bring myself to shoot a borderline buck this early into the seaon. I'm praying that making the decision to pass him will grant me an opportunity at a bigger deer later in the season.
Jeff If YOU feel like you did the right thing then you have my support 100% That's the great thing about hunting man. One day you have encounters like this the next day his dad could show up. You are in a Mecca for monster white tail. Keep your head up and hunt hard. Your patience will be rewarded
Thanks Blake, I really appreciate the encouragement! It's tough not knowing what lies ahead in the season, and deciding to pass a 140"+ deer. The good news is that I typically get to hunt 3 or 4 days a week with a flexible schedule. I've also got November 1-17th off and I'll be hitting the woods hard.
