    I'm still around!

    Hey everyone,

Sorry I've been amiss lately. Been busy, and hadn't had much time to hunt. I was even in the Czech Republic just last Friday, but hey - I'm back, jet lag is definitely working in my favor and I had an encounter with a really nice 8 pointer at 22 yards yesterday morning in Chatham county, NC. He didn't stick around long at all, and he never gave me a shot. I'm just about to head back out and see if he shows again.

Way to go fletch!!!! What a brute!!!

I've been the king of encounters in the first 3 days of my stretch off! I'm seeing good deer in daylight just not the one I'm after. I've had two 140" class eight points come in and lots of smaller 2.5 year olds. I'm holding out for something over 150". The young guys seem to be nudging does, but I think action is gonna be ON sometime in the next week. I'll keep you guys posted. Good luck to all!

Thanks man. I think you are exactly right as far as the rut goes. My buck fed with does around for most of the evening and did not pay them any attention while 2 and 3 yr olds where harassing the ladies. That tells me it is just around the corner. The buck decoy is what killed him. Good luck and enjoy the best few days of the year!

Here he is fellas! 144 and 3/4. 220 lbs on the hoof. I've been playing cat and mouse with him for a few sits now and finally got it done this morning at 7:30. He was 7 yards and ran about 35. The killzone ate him up. DSC01919.jpg DSC01926.jpg DSC01929.jpg

Thanks fletch! I'm very pleased with him! I've got lots of pics and history with him from this season so I'm pumped to put a tag on him. I was hoping he woulda gone 150", but for my second buck ever I'm very thrilled!!! Sometimes I wish I wasn't 6'4" 265 pounds because I think it'd make the rack look better in the pictures haha!

Team 31 is on the move boys!!! To those that haven't tagged yet, your time is coming, keep at it and enjoy the hunt! It's been a great season!
