Season has started here in Nebraska. I am planning on going out on Thursday and seeing if I can find one of the bucks that has been running around on my camera.
    Great job on the bear.
    Good luck to everyone.

Well Wisconsin opening weekend did not exactly go as planned.

    - Saturday AM I filmed for Tom Alford. We actually saw 4 different bucks but due to the thick cover and my inability to work my new camera properly got very little footage. Then I managed to scare 3 of them away with my not-so-ninja-like movements.

    - Saturday PM I was up to bat with Tom behind the camera. Got alllll the way to our stands and I forgot my quiver in the truck. Doh! Down the tree, up the hill, across the field, hop in the Gator, down the hill to the truck, grab arrows, then reverse. I was sweating by the time I got back! About an hour before dark we had a lone doe working down the trail right at us when a coyote spooked her and she headed back from where she came. Game over for the night.

    - Sunday AM we got rained out and decided to pack it up and go home. I wish we would've stayed to hunt Sunday PM but with a 3+ hour ride home it wasn't worth the late night and ticking off the wives on opening weekend. Plenty of season still left!

All in all it felt good to be in a tree!

On a positive note we're still getting regular pics of 2 IL Hist List bucks. Come October it's game on.

Good luck to everyone who has started hunting and to those who will be hunting soon. It is a tough part of the year when other states can start hunting and I have to sit at home and watch football.

    Any luck this weekend gents?

I finished getting stands ready, checked cams and fertilized my food plots one last time. T-minus 10 days until October. I'm ready to go!

My buddy Joe Dirt is still hanging around. He's making his way to the top of my short list, that's for sure.

Got a new stand hung this weekend. Gonna wait a while to hunt it. Haven't had any big buck action on the trail cams lately.. Hope you guys have some good luck when your seasons open!

Just put up a new stand a few days ago on different land than I usually hunt. It's on a heavily traveled ridge loaded with acorns and fresh deer droppings....pretty pumped. I'll check my trail cam from there at the end of this week. Btw, getting within 10 yards of a buck without knowing it's there, then having it jump out of the brush and take off running will scare you sh*tless......needless to say I had to change my pants.

Anyways, my two other hunting spots have been looking like this at the moment. Does and fawns.

Stands hung, bow straight. Cloths to wash and get climber sprayed and hung out in fresh air.

Only been out once. I have not been getting any mature bucks on camera though so waiting to play my cards right for some buck action. I will go to a few of my doe spots to see if I can put us on the board friday and sunday. Then I wont be hunting for 2 weeks since my fiancee and I are tying the knot on 10/5. I hope the rest of you lay something down. Good Luck!

Nice! Hope you smack a good one.

One week from today I'll be in a tree for an opening day afternoon hunt. I can't wait! I have no idea where I'm going to sit or if I'll see any deer but at this point I don't care. I'm ready to get after it.

With the swirling winds I never did make it to the stand I wanted but did manage to get a doe down this evening . This is my first year of having to hunt with a crossbow and it was nice to get it broke in right :) Still hopeful that I'll get to go back to my compound soon though .

    Congrats on the doe.

I managed to get out one day last week. Unfortunately I had some Coyotes running around my stand that kept the deer away. I did see a lot of deer driving in so I do feel better that the EAD didn't wipe everything out. Still no large bucks on camera though. It was nice just to get out and sit in the stand. I'm sure you guys that have a later opening day have to be chomping at the bit.

    Good Luck to all.

    Congrats on the good start!

I am taking vacation time off work tomorrow through all next week. Going to Cedar Point for the weekend, then opening day is Tuesday, and my birthday is the following Saturday. I am kind of expecting the best week of the year thus far! And did I mention no work?
