I got out this morning and passed on 2 different 8 pointers about 10 mins. apart. Had them both broadside at 5-10 yards. One was a pretty nice 8 and was very hard to pass up but decided he could use another year. I think he was a big 2 year old. The other 8 was a little smaller and a 2 year old. I hope this is a sign that things are starting to heat up. It was nice to finally have a couple close encounters within 20 yards AND they were bucks. It was an exciting hunt!

Well just got back from my bowcamp. Had a black bear cub playing beneath my stand for 20 minutes, man do I wish that I had my camera on me. Had a doe coming in at 30yds, I stood up, grabbed my bow and clipped onto my D loop, She was working her way to me slowly. Just as I was getting ready to draw back, she stopped and looked to the right then turned around and hauled butt up the mountain flag flying. Now I'm standing there wondering if she busted me, and 15 seconds later I see my brother in law "Elmer Fudding" it up the road on his way back to camp. Talk about frustration!!!!

I got out this weekend and saw 10 different does but nothing close enough to shoot. Had 2 younger buck within 15 yards but they were a little small to shoot this early in the season. Saw 2 shooters so hopefully I can get on them the next times out.

    Congrats on the doe.

Congrats on the doe, and nice pictures guys! Definitely getting a lot more buck activity on the trail camera during daylight hours but still nothing huge. I hunted Friday evening, Saturday morning and evening, and this morning. I saw one deer the whole time and it was so far that I couldn't tell what it was.....rough weekend for me but hopefully the lack of deer movement was because of the wind.

I hunted last night and tonight here in South Central WI. Had a buck grunting somewhere behind me last night and never did see what it was (The woods are still very thick/green here). All I saw tonight was one doe and two fawns. I think this next week should be very good here! Good luck, all!

This sucks. I pulled the card from the trail cams and there are some nice bucks on them but they are moving around 2 in the morning.

Pretty sure this is going to go down as the worst rut of all time. I hunted Sat to Mon and saw a total of 4 small bucks and 5 does. All big buck activity on camera is after dark. Going to work the next two days and let these warmer temps and rain blow through then back at it Thurs to Sun. Hopefully something starts moving, this is ridiculous.

Thursday evening I headed to the woods after school. At about 4:00PM I made it to the top of the ridge I hunt on, my stand is half way down it. I looked down the ridge just in time to see a buck standing 20 yards in front of my tree stand run off. I couldn't get a clear view of his rack buck I know for sure he was WIDE and he was definitely one of the bigger bodied deer I had ever seen. So close! I might try to sit all day tomorrow, probably won't, but I'll try lol. Things are starting to get exciting here.

Well, all I have to report from the weekend at the "prime location" is that I saw 16 total deer, every buck I saw was under 100", and didn't see a single buck chasing a doe. I had two trail cameras set up there for exactly one month. There were 167 total pictures and the biggest buck on the cameras was a dinky 2 yr old 8 pt. I'm stumped. I have no clue what's going on. Every doe I saw was still with her fawns, none of the bucks I saw were chasing does (or even showed interest in the does around them), and none of the 4 of us at camp saw a buck over 130". This is the same farm that produces several 150"+ bucks every year! Hope you all had a much better weekend than I did!

Well guys it seems that I'm better at the "hunting" part than I am the "killing" part of bowhunting. I had a nice 135" 8 point at 16 yards on Thursday morning. On the shot my lower cam smashed into the base of my camera arm (I never even looked at it) and my arrow thankfully went right under him instead of wounding him.

Friday morning I saw 10 bucks, 3 shooters all within 50 yards of my stand and I couldn't get a shot at any of them.

Sunday morning I saw another shooter at 60 yards and he wouldn't commit to my location after I grunted. He was headed somewhere with one thing on his mind and no call was going to stop that.

Last night I saw 2 shooters, 1 of them a GIANT, about 200 yards out in a field bumping does around. I called and called and called but they didn't pay me any attention.

Not sure what I need to do to cure this curse but I'll try anything at this point! Couple more days of hunting before gun season, hoping I can end this stupid curse!!

Tough break, I hope it gets better for you guys! I'm slowly working my way up the hunting ladder. Every buck I've killed has been bigger than the one before. 3 point, 5 point, 8 point(95 inches), 9 point(108 inches), and now a 10 point(115ish inches, not scored yet). The rut has started to kick in here in Oklahoma, but I've only got one buck on camera out of both properties I'm hunting that is over 2.5 years old. Things have been pretty slow. At about 6:45AM Saturday this guy stepped out, nose to the ground the whole time, about 10 minutes after a smaller buck came through, and I couldn't help myself! This makes my third deer with a bow and the first deer I've shot with my bow that was standing farther than five yards away. It's a nice feeling when you hear the "thud" noise the arrow makes when it hits a deer twenty yards in front of you :tu: . Double lunged and heart shot him so the blood trail was great, the NAP Hellrazor sure did it's job! After passing through the deer and into the dirt behind him, it still had an edge. I couldn't be happier! Let's hope I don't regret tagging out after I check my trail camera at the end of this week. Good luck fellas!

Another 50 points for team 31. I smoked a doe yesterday. Also, almost had a shot at a big buck. He was in some brush just 5 steps from my shooting lane at 25-30 yards. He just would not step into it. He stood there for a while and then angled off staying behind twigs and brush and I could not get a clean shot. So close though.
