Early season for sure. With acorns on the ground, they will be eating those up. However you say that there aren't any significant trails makes me think that the deer are still in the corn crops. So Its tough to say really. Chances are you will see more deer use that would lot once the crops begin to get cut. But acorns are super attractive to deer as you know. So I think that it wouldnt hurt to hunt it opening evening, then come back to it once crops are being cut.

Heck yeah Id hunt that sucker opening day afternoon! get a good look at it to see what kind of movement you get to fine tune ur stands. Then if your in the right spot you might just wack one right away and that 50 acre bean feild walk might get real fun. I bet those deer are usring that little spot as a bedding area so go slow and get in there early afternoon.

Slick head down shot with the new nap killzone. Not too much for a blood only 50 yards and piled up.

Awesome job!! Well I wish I could contribute, but I whiffed last night. Had a nice doe come in, but a little long. Thought she was closer than she was. Used top pin (good to about 25) and should have used middle pin (about 45), shot just under her heart. Line was good, she had no clue what happened, clean miss. Missing sucks, but wounding one sucks worse. Bad afternoon to sit here in MN. Strong winds 20 MPH with gusts 30-38 MPH. Getting back after it tomorrow. Once again, great job on the doe. Looks like as of right now the stinky bow hunter is ME!! Ow!! I better get my doe before you IL bows start slaughtering 'em!!

Do any of you guys keep a spare bow or 2 set up and ready to go? I just saw my bow has a little nic in the string and i got another bow laying around why not? i might be screwed if i cant get a new string and all set up agin. This is a good reason i should learn to replace my own string and tune it my self also!

I sold my old bow to a buddy. He doesn't use it and its at my house. So I guess I have a back up. Thing shoots straighter than heck.

I do have a 2nd bow that I am setting up as a backup, I am putting 60lb limbs on it and will back it down or leagues this winter...Just got a new sight(Trophy Ridge) delivered today, will be out tomorrow getting at least the 20 and 30 yd pins set.
New bow is a 2012 Insanity CPXL and my backup is a 2007 Commander

I love my Mathews/ Mission but I gotta say I've really been looking into getting an Insanity CPX for next year. How do you like yours? How does it shoot?

I really like it, it took a while to get it tuned in, I had a friend help me micro tune it and now I have point of impact with field tips and broadheads out to 40 yds. I have the CPXL, which has a bigger brace height, I shot the CPX and really liked it, but needed it to be a little more forgiving than the 6 inch brace height. Hope to have a photo with it and my 1st bow kill deer by the weekend...Compared to my Commander its alot smaller axle to axle.

May I add that the very south end of the woods in the first picture is VERY thick and I have never been able to explore it haha. I believe the deer may be bedding in here. It spans about the south 1/4 of the woods.
