Im still here! lol im just waiting to see a post that reads "BIG BUCK DOWN!" Dang this suspense is killin me!!!!
Afternoon all!! Just had a chance to check in. Ok now to catch up. 1) Hunter issue above, gotta agree. Landowner #1, Municipal Code enforcer #2 if landowner wants it to escalate, and then sheriff. I wish people really understood how much pressure there is on deer in Minnesota. "City" enforcement zones though they can be good are often sooooo full of stress!! 2)Like everyone the work, family, and all other commitments list is hurting my hunting schedule. Saturday starts 8 straight days of hunting for me as I took time off work next week. I really do expect by Monday morning I should have a doe down. Saw an old friend on Monday night this last week and am gonna try and get a trail cam in to get picks on him. We call him "Goofy" because his left side is spectacular, and well, his right side is goofy. As a 3 1/2 year old, I would expect him to go 115-130". Would like to let him go, but if we don't shoot him, a neighbor will, so we will see what happens. 3)Waiting on my parents land purchase to ramp up. Have been able to walk around on it and WOW!!! Seriously nice ground. Fun driving into the drive way during the middle of the day and having to wait for deer to clear the driveway!! Really hoping it goes through. If it goes through too late this year probably will be iffy on doing much for deer there this year, but with work, next year there will kick butt!! Good luck all, last one to get a doe this weekend is a stinky bowhunter!!!
I hope you get a crack at Goofy. Also hope your parents to close on the property. All us IL & IN guys cant hunt yet I really cant wait for October!
Hay CFStinger now thats what im talking about! Promis of new land a buck in your sights and come OCTOBER 1 you can add your doe right after i get mine! The heat is on Witch team 30 member its going to strike first? What do u boy think of a little wager? Last one to add a doe to to the point total has to take a Broadhead to his favorit hunting hat and post the aftermath? Who's in?
What do you think boys last one to put points on the board has to broadhead there favorite hat? Or should we keep it all about the girls? Remember doe points add up too. I think it would be cool to keep a body count for the season too. Even if u get your buck and doe keep postin up the carnage! Im hopein for atleast 3 deer for the freezer! Hell i got all kinds a stuff planed for my arrows squirrels turkeys, coyotes, groundhogs. If i can take it with a bow in illinois i will.
Hell yeah I'm in!! I'll arrow a hat if I have to, but here's to hoping I won't!! Sat last night and saw a huge six and here in this corner of Minnesota he's off limits as we have a four point on a side law. Some guys hate that rule, but I love it. None of this brown is down stuff in our neighborhood. Next year he'll be NICE!!!!! As a six he's a solid 110" right now. Cold n windy morning here, had a doe pass out of range, and saw a pile of squirrels. Bad news was I left my squirrel arrows in the truck. Damn!!! Have a dumb wedding tonight so can't sit tonight, but volunteered to be sober cab so I can sit tomorrow morning. Why must women have fall weddings? My daughters both know as 11 and 9 year olds that fall weddings will not happen in this family!! Well off work this week. Time to kill!! As "My Boy Blue" would say, "Ring the bell you panzy!!"
Lol...I really don't have very many bucks at all around my place so if I can get a few does, I'll be just as happy! Meat in the freezer!!!
Well boys, just claimed hunting rights to 2 more hunting leases in the last day. One is owned by my great aunt, it is about 18 acres and hasn't been touched in 20+ years. Just jumped a 10pt in it last night when I was scouting. This morning received permission from a family friend to hunt his 10 acres about a mile from my house. He owns another 40 acre plot that it loaded with monster deer but he already has somebody paying him to hunt it. I am super excited!!!
Nice inbowhunter! If u happen to need a hand shootin all them bucks Im not apposed to a out of state road trip!! ha ha good luck!
Went and set up a stand in the 10 acre woods earlier today. It's the only woods in a few miles and is surrounded by corn and bean fields. Did some scouting and was kinda disappointed as there was very little sign of deer. Found some tracks and maybe some trails, but the woods must have been logged before because it is VERY open and provides for great shooting and I can see almost through the whole woods. Few large trees but mostly young saplings. TONS of acorns on the ground. There is one main "logging road?" that goes through the middle and I believe the deer follow this. Kinda sucks that I have to walk across a 50 acre bean field to reach the woods. :/ But overall I am happy with the spot I chose. Would you hunt this early or late season?
