Got out this morning, alarm went of at 0430, cripes thats early. Sat the edge of a cornfield (only stand that would work for the wind). Had a doe bust me moving, but she stayed in the area, about 30 minutes later she came out with her two fawns and started feeding, I had full draw on her twice at 33 yds but she would not stop when I had a clear shot. Great morning but the weather got to warm, we'll try again tomorrow morning...
Is there any better feeling then the sun and the wind on your face at the crack of dawn that first morning. Im jealous! I dont now if i can wait! Im geek up good luck boys and stay safe.
Sat late into the morning and nothing. Major cool down coming though so next weekend will heat up. No time during the week but will be scouting a new piece. Weird being excited about your parents buying a new place when you are in your mid 30's. Doing another scouting trip Tuesday before they submit an offer. Well, talk to you all as week goes on.
Im jealous of you MN guys! Glad to hear you guys had a fun & safe weekend. I finished hanging stands and making mock scrapes. Went to check a camera, but it turns out i left it on 'Set Up' instead of 'On'. Oh well, hopefully somebody shoots something to put us on the board!
had some does in range and a kind of half rack buck under the stand last night. he had 5 on one side and a club on the other. didnt want to shoots a doe back where I was so I'll try next saturday moring and sunday night.
NO it was a stealth cam. I think it was that i used the same SD cards for like 2 years. Got some new cards going to give it a try agin tomarrow. Think i might try some video never tried that before.
Make sure you format your sd cards. That way they are basically refreshed. Heres a photo of my number one buck im chasing this fall guys, hes an old deer. Wont score a ton but hes mature. This is a picture of him from last season, only one part of his rack in the frame This is a photo of him about 600 yards away, from 2010 in the summer. Here I believe hes 3 or 4. Cant quite tell. Just calling him 'The Old Seven Pointer' for now. Heres a buck that I believe I saw On Nov. 11 while bow hunting, he was chasing a doe and I couldnt get him to come my way, hes a definite shooter. Calling him 'Tower', hes got long tines. Now here is my #3 buck I would like to see. Named him 'Briefs' since his brows create the outline of briefs. I dont know if I would shoot him. I say hes 3, what do you guys think? . So thats the run down for me guys. Nothing gigantic. But you never know what the rut will bring your way so Im staying out of these areas until the rut. If anybody else wants to share pics, lets see em!
Nice deer I hunt a 10 acker block of woods on a river bottom and I hardly see the same deer 2 In a year. I stay as sent free as possible and really hope for the best. What killis me is every year Theres a ton of giants killed all around me and iv seen them but never had a chance at a monster.
Well iv got off my butt put my new cammo on and shot the bow with all my stuff on all decked out head to toe. To my suprize everthing is going good even played with the nockternals. IN 12 days the first doe that comes bye openeing morning is going in the freezer. The family and I love venison and the supplie is getting dangerously low.
Good luck to you as well! These cold mornings are awsome im so tired of the heat. Our thread has gone quiet i hope this is just the calm before the storm! Anyone else out there? HELLOoooooooooooo! Think its just you and me illinoishunter102! hahaha
Nothing happening here, work schedule and sons football schedule got me going in all directions, hoping to get out late this weekend early next week...I do like this cooler weather though.
Here's a question for you all. A friend and I have permission to hunt a piece of land that is on the southern most part of the cities permissable hunting zone. A guy hunts the property just to the south of us in the "Prohibited" area of the city. He has been hassling us to move one of our stands because he says it's to close to his. Here is the options we have dicussed. 1. talk to him and tell him he's hunting illegally, 2. Talk to the landowner that he has permission to hunt on her property and tell her that he is not allowed to hunt there per city ordinance 3. Talk to the code enforcement for the city and advise them about him hunting in violation of the city ordinance or 4. Call the Sheriff's dept and advise them. Them local DNR CO will not get involved because it is a city matter... Any ideas? Thanks in advance
You've got quite the situation. I say it really depends on how much you dislike this guy. But If I were in you place I'd first speak to the landowner, advise him what is going on on his property and point out the laws etc... Then I'd talk to City Sheriff's of some sort so they can enforce the law, and get that guy outta there. If you wanna play nice, just confront him and tell him to leave you alone since YOU are not breaking the law. He is however. That should be enough to shut him up. Good luck, as long as your on the side of the fence your legally allowed to hunt on, I dont see why you should move your stands.
Illinoishunter102 I agree with you 100%. Me personaly i wont put a stand within 50yds of another hunter if possible. There are a cupple stands where me and another hunter make arangments to say ill hunt it durring the week and he gets the weeked. You never no he might only have that one spot to hunt. Personaly city ordenence are a bunch of bull. If you can safely hunt a spot there should be no reason you cant. Remember if he gets kicked out of his spot he might not be real happy. I would deffinetly lock up all your stands. Good luck!
