Checking in. We got dumped on early in the week. Had around 14" of snow in 24 hours! It has also been bitter cold. It warmed up just enough to start melting today. Unfortunately looks like it may snow again tomorrow and Monday. As soon as most of the snow is gone I will start walking!
We are down to just 2 missing. I will drop Chad an email. Looks like we are about to start getting some warmer weather here over the next 10 days so really hoping to get out and put in some time! Good luck searching everyone!
Looks like We are gonna have some warmer temps over the next few days. I have to work all weekend but should be able to get out for a few hours each morning before work! Sent from my iPhone 5S using Tapatalk
Drove a nearby area that I know has a lot of deer and saw several today but didn't see any antlers. Could not tell if they were all does or already dropped. I still have a lot of snow on the ground so I was wondering if anyone gets out and just uses a gps to walk all the deer trails that are all over the place and mark them on the gps? Was thinking of doing that this weekend so I could go back and walk all the same trails in the coming weeks as the snow melts. Sure with the amount of snow we have some antlers are buried and I would never find them right now anyways.
Warm temps really melted a lot of the snow yesterday. It is suppose to be equally as warm if not warmer today. Saturday or Sunday is looking good for the first real shed hunt! I am sure it will be a sloppy muddy mess but I am going anyway!
Good luck Jason, I may do a little looking tomorrow. But I'm still thinking they are holding on still. Maybe this cold and show storm got them to drop.
Alright team...fergus directed me to proper forum etiquette. ..sorry for not checking in. Heading out tomorrow with the family to find some sheds I'll keep ya posted....still a ton of snow though! Sent from my SCH-R970 using Tapatalk
Just missing one teammate now! Hope to get out this weekend and with warm temps next week I will certainly be getting out soon.
I took my oldest out today…we put on 2 miles in some serious snow….drifted in some parts about 3-4'. Needless to say no sheds…It's a new farm and I did scout for some great potential stand locations. We filmed a bit for the show and had 2 yotes, one at 125 yards the other over 300. Needless to say I didn't have the .223 or the .308 or we would've had some dead dogs! Oh-well, it was great being out there with my daughter….she is such a trooper, never complained once. We were blessed to have some time together.
Went out this morning and the snow was so deep. I was able to retrieve my cameras but alot of the snow I was walking through was over knee deep so it made getting them extremely difficult. Needless to say I wasn't able to cover much ground but I did find some good trails that I will go back and check again in a few weeks!
Anyone getting out this weekend? I am going to the Illinois Deer & Turkey Expo tomorrow but hope to get in a few miles Sunday and Monday!
My knee, not sure what's going on. Going to have our trainer look at it tomorrow. Today was a beautiful day low 70s too.... Ugh!
