I made it out this morning, it was hot. Sweating in the walk in. Seen a nice shooterbuck chasing a doe and saw a doe fawn. Had the shooter at 22 yards just barely before shooting light. Gonna try again tommorow.
Good luck tomorrow!! The grind has continued here. Averaging a whopping 2 deer seen per sit which is unbelievable. So far one of those deer has been the same spike and the other has usually been a fawn. Kind of kicking myself, had this guy dead to rights at 25 yards this morning and decided to pass. I wasn’t sure from the picture if I wanted him to be my second buck of the year or not and he came in too quick to get a good look at him. Until he was 25 yards past my shooting lane and standing still in some picker bushes…. He’s quite a bit bigger than the picture makes him look. Tomorrow will be my last day for this trip, and for regular bow season. We will see how my wife is feeling the first two weeks of December and maybe get back up to Bowhunt a little more.
Seen a couple deer today slow going in Missouri our last day is tomorrow. A all day sit is planned I’d love to kill early and get back to the lodge early to get some sleep before the 16hr ride home.
Hunting next to these windmills is tough. They make a fair amount of noise. Leaves are dry that's a help.
One more sit left for the trip, a little more movement this morning but nothing close enough for a shot. Got a daylight picture of the buck I passed yesterday. Thoughts on a rough score? He’s for sure 14” inside, I could see him going 15” inside though. I’m not the best with judging scores, but I think I can see the math adding up to 125-130 if not a hair more. He’s a 5x3, no brow on his right side. I can tell you one thing, he won’t survive that stroll twice.
I don’t know if it’s the camera playing tricks, the doe is tiny, or the body on that thing is that big, but I’m in here to try and find out
Just had a huge 10 on the other ridge. Couldn’t get him to commit to coming to this side. He was with a doe and she slipped out and he followed. Geez this year has been crazy. May have another chance when the wind shifts tomorrow.
I’m headed to my public spot tomorrow. Any decent buck is getting shot. With having a new born this year hunting has been limited to say the least. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Other than Monday, this trip has been a bust. This is like hunting the middle of October. I’m gonna cut this trip short and head home tomorrow. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Just got home from getting my butt kicked in Missouri. I’ll be hunting tomorrow evening or as soon as I get my stuff washed and shoot my bow and cross bow to see if they survived the trip.
I’m out this ,morning 1st day of gun season in KY-80 so watch out for the pumpkin patches Sent from my iPad using Bowhunting .com Forums
Haven’t checked in much lately. Just been hunting everyday. IA was good didn’t get eyes on any shooters passed a few 100”-120” deer. We decided to drive up to SD on Wednesday cause our cams were hot. SD has been on fire deer running everywhere. passed some pretty good bucks over the last few days. Had a real nice 10 come in chasing doe right after another 10 came walking by. Had him at 35 and figured he’d move in closer to doe for better shot but then doe all of a sudden bolted the other way and they ended up crossing road. The doe’s fawn is bedded behind me hopefully they work their way back over here. I have another 10 and doe bedded about 200yds away. I didn’t get good glass on him but he looked like a shooter. Hopefully I can close today tomorrow last day of rutcation. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Had a couple doe’s behind me tonight. Probably stay up and watch the ufc fight tonight so I’ll get a late start tomorrow more than likely.
Well yesterday an eight point came in then I realized he only had a half rack, passed, got blown down last night back at it today Sent from my iPad using Bowhunting .com Forums
Passed a little fork horn this morning. He went right to my GF son and he smoked him. His first ever deer with a bow. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Skunked yesterday. Saw a forky and a doe this morning. I’m catching up around the house tonight. edit: I hate the rut. I’d much rather hunt 10/25-11/1 and December. This time of the year has me second guessing every thing and my confidence goes through the floor when I set all day and don’t see anything.
I hear you I didn’t even go out today but I will be out for sure tomorrow morning I need a south wind and that’s what’s the weather guesser tells me it’s going to be. Might shoot the first buck I see. I will get out tomorrow morning and the next time will be Friday morning/ evening day before gun season.
