Yeah, problem is finding a place. You can't just go to public land. You have to apply, then the spot they give you, if you even get drawn might be 3-4 hours away. So confusing down here and very frustrating. Outfitter hunts down here actually aren't that bad unless your going for the big boys (high fence). Most outfitters offer like buck, hog, and a doe for under 2k with accommodations.
That’s does sound fun the hog and buck hunt. I never knew Florida was like that for public. Hopefully your guy will send the pics.
This morning was a total $hit show. Woke up at 2:30 and couldn’t go back to sleep. Terrible headache. Fumbled my way in, bad wind. I did learn that the stand I was all jacked up for, isn’t as hot this year. I believe it has to do with crops coming out early as it was between two fields. Tonight, I’m back on the food plot hoping the cold front has them feeding (just like the tv shows ya know). Wind switch tomorrow so I’m hoping that stirs some movement in the am
I forgot to post that my husband got his doe so now he can buck hunt, he is hunting a property that requires them to kill a doe 1st. I'm so excited for him, he got to see a nice buck just a little to far away his last time out. Its been a few years since he has gotten a buck and after his cancer surgery his strength & stamina and spine are not what they used to be, the state issued him a standing vechicle permit ( because or his disability ) so he can hunt from his 4 wheeler or truck on the public hunting spot that I hunt if he wants to. So he can now drive back to the woods at the public hunting spot to hunt instead of the long walk from the parking area to the woods, they even mowed some parking areas at the woods edge that he can park at. So he went and found a spot in the public land woods where he is gonna go for gun season. Prayers he gets a buck this season !!!!!!
Last night at around 5:30 I had a button buck, a small doe, and a larger doe come into the food plot. The larger one didn’t make it closer than 45 yards, small one at 33. The small one picked me off and we had a stare down for at least 20 mins. They turned into the woods and headed 90 degrees from the way they came in from. So the came in at my 9 o’clock in the plot, went into the woods and popped back out at my 12. I went to draw on the small doe and my release prematurely fired about an inch and a half into the draw cycle. The big doe circled down wind to my 3 o’clock in the timber and I was able to get another arrow nocked. Got the shot off and double lunged her.
The garage door installers are supposed to be here between 8-930. Not sure how long that will take. The guy told me it only takes 20 minutes to take one down then it’s should only take 20 to put one up, I kid I know that’s not how it works. As soon as they are done I’m out of here heading to the spot I got my doe. LadyForge best of luck to you and your husband. Slickbilly congrats on the doe. Everyone is doing a fine job killing does, hopefully we can get some bucks on the ground. Good luck out there.
Sat tonight nothing worth reporting on! Probably hunt in morning. Leave for IA on Friday. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Just curious if you have heard anything from chago in the past couple years? He disappeared during the Covid peak and can't help but fear the worst regardless of what transpired. Only asking you as I remember you were teammates with him for a couple contests.
I was going to try to get in the stand early but I think I’m going to wait to go in between 9 and 10. Early movement has not been so good for me yet.
Ash getting the Jeep aligned this morning and a tire balance, got some kind of wobble, but don’t fall down. …..webul, but heading out later today. Sent from my iPad using Bowhunting .com Forums
