We basically have a new crop of bucks we consider shooters every year. No matter what we do with the property, come November 16th it is an odd year where all of our shooters aren’t dead. These are two I have my eyes on. They have been pretty regular in this spot. If we can get a south or southwest wind the first weekend of bow season, I should have a decent chance at one of them.
I see your team is all checked in. When you pick a captain and a team name please let me know. Also, Shawn, thanks for catching the missing H4 measurements on Oldcarp's buck and letting him know.
Sounds like Shawn is captain material. For name I will suggest “THREE Blade Blood Bath” Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
He is a massive deer and a bully. I believe this year he is 8.5 years old. There's only been 1 time I had a shot at him and that was 3 years ago. When he approached my stand I was getting ready then I saw most of his left side was broke off so I passed him. I have history with this buck since 2017.
When does everyone start hunting? I only have those days I said earlier. October 20th, through October 28th.
SD opens the 1st but I don’t usually go out there until late Oct.. MN opens Sept 16th. I’ll be going after this guy if he sticks around keeps and keeps same pattern. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Shawn you have my vote for team captain. Our bow hunting season starts here in Illinois Oct 1st, I bow hunt public that is bucks only for the 1st 15 days of the season. I never really choose a a paticullar buck to take since they all wander so far come rut, I just wait and see what shows up. The last 2 years I have taken 3 bucks in the same spot ( 1 was a spot n stalk on a bedded buck, one was a ground hunt and one from my climber ) so I am looking forward to hunting that spot again. here is my 2 bucks from last season.
So is it official? Looks like I have 4 votes and I'll vote for myself, lol. That's majority! I'll have to notify Little Chief.
Food plot is going in this weekend. Better late than never, but I’ve been trying to wait until we have some rain in the forecast. Now we still don’t have any rain in the near forecast. It’s oats and winter wheat so it won’t take much moisture to germinate.
