Hunted Friday-Sunday and the biggest buck I saw was maybe 50". The big guys just aren't moving in my woods yet. Almost had a shot at a turkey, but they ducked into the woods about 60 yards from me last evening. I heard them fly up about 5:45 behind me.

Yeah JM that sounds like me as well. I went and hunted about 3.5 hrs away from home all weekend and the big bucks he has pictures of are just not moving during the daytime right now. Even with a cool spell and great lunar times, none of the guys I hunted with encountered a mature buck. We did find plenty of fresh sign that was occurring at night such as rubs and scrapes. I did manage to come home with a doe though so I didn't come back empty handed. NC Biologist have told me our rut in SE NC typically occurs last of October into first few days of November. Well it just so happens the end of October is this weekend and the temps go from being in the mid 70's all week to highs in the 50's and low's in the 30's on Friday and Saturday. I am expecting to see some serious rutting action going on here in the next week or two. Anyway I probably will not hunt again until Friday so good luck to you and any of the other guys hunting this week!

    Hey Guys

Once again I am sorry for not being a bigger part of the team here on our thread but things have been difficult for me. On a brighter note I am leaving on November 4th for Fulton County Illinois. This is the first time I have been excited to hunt this year. Good luck to everyone out there and I will update you guys while on my trip.

I've heard some great things about Fulton County Andy, it's definately in the right area. Are you hunting with an outfitter, relative, or do you have a lease there?

Good luck, the timing "SHOULD BE" great.

Good luck Andy! I've also heard great things about Fulton.

Forecast for Wednesday is for a NNE wind which is the best wind possible for the stand I saw a giant from last year. I'll be in the stand all day Wednesday.

A friend of mine has a 247 acre farm that I am able to hunt. This will be my second year out there. Last year we seen some bruisers but i was not able to get it done. There was however a 150 plus killed there last year as well as a 140. It is a very good piece of property.

    First Deer with the bow!!!!

    DSC00146.jpg

My first deer with a bow! I know he's not a world record, or anywhere close, but I'm jacked! I hope you guys forgive the low score (<50), but I was too excited to let him walk.

More points for the "Tree Rats". I scored on my first buck this season. Not the biggest in my woods but I thought I was making him a movie star. He came in and worked a scrape and licking branch 15 yards in front of me turned and offered a nice 10 yard shot. Now I normally hold out for something bigger, but since I'm filming for BH.com's Bowhunt or Die, I figured it was great footage I might as well finish the job so I drilled him and got him crashing down the hillside 60 yards away. Or so I thought.......I forgot to hit record, :bash: so I missed the whole thing.

Anyhow here he is, 178 lbs and 119 1/8"

    Congrats

Way to go Palmetto Pastor and JM!!! We need all the points we can get. I am ready to contribute with some bone myself.

Palmetto, if you were pumped to shoot it and you are happy with your decision then don't apologize. There is not one person up here you have to answer too. Good job!!

Good job guys! I haven't been much help yet. I missed a doe a week ago and saw three yesterday. The wind moved in today (>25 mph) nothing moving. I'll be out there again in the morning.

    Way to go guys!

I am getting closer and closer to my IL trip. It is getting harder and harder to sleep. LOL. To make matters worse the land owner told me he seen 4 different bucks he thought were over 150" last weekend, all during the day. I am so looking forward to being in the stand Saturday Afternoon.

BTW, Our score in the scorecard is incorrect. it needs another 50 pts added. It says 319 and should say 369.

I'm finally going out again this afternoon. I can't believe its Nov. & I've only been out 3 times!
I think today will be good, last night we had rain & high winds. The winds should die down around 4pm so I hope that will trigger a lot of movement just before sunset.

Good luck everyone the big bucks are definitely on the move!

It's actually 369-1/8 inches according to my tally. But hey, who's really paying attention. Shoot, Team 6 wasn't even given the red leader's jersey. Absolutely no respect, I tell you!

Keep swimming Team 3! Good hunting!

Shot a doe this morning. I saw 14 does and two bucks. When I was field dressing her a 115" 8pt walked up on me, less than 20 yds away. Sorry about the pictures in the back of my truck. It was getting warm. Shot her at 8:45 and didn't get her to the house until 12:30.
