Team 3 - The 3 Buckateers

Back from ND. Did one stand sit on a piece and moved to glassing/spot stalking the rest of the time. We saw probably 8-10 different bucks yesterday. I almost shot a 6pt this morning with a decoy. Came into 30yds, I drew back and had it on him. We were on the top of our glassing hill and he came from the bottom. Just needed 1 or 2 steps. I was on my knees ducking when I drew and I raised up just those few steps too soon. He blew and bolted.

Tried to make a move on 2 other bucks we glassed but didn’t get close.

Get my stuff situated and washed the next day or 2 and I’ll be back at it here in MN. Gun opener is Saturday.

Daylight saving time can suck it. I work from home, have a close property to hunt, and a decently flexible work schedule but it is still a tough time getting out to the stand before 4pm this week. Not sure I want to push it for a 1 1/2 hour hunt each night.

Congrats VS! Way to stick with it! I am working a half day tomorrow and then headed back up to hunt tomorrow night through sunday morning. Last shot before gun season

 

I’ll be out this Saturday, maybe all day sit. Also took Monday off. Supposed to snow Sunday into Monday. Then unleashing my kids with the guns for firearm opener the 15th.

Grinding. Got caught by a giant doe last night at 9yds. Stand facing straight west and she came straight from the west looking my direction. Had a good wind but it was swirling. She got to 9 yards just as I was about to draw and stopped. Knew something wasn’t right and decided to blow about 20 times.

Sat all day today and had an eventful sit. Can read about it in the live from the stand thread.

I’ll be out with my rifle tomorrow-Monday for gun opener.

Out in the stand now for the rest of the day, and I’ll be up here through Tuesday morning. Activity has really picked up on the cams over the last few days. Fingers crossed that a nice buck makes a mistake. Good luck to everyone else out hunting this weekend!
