Neighbor to the north of us sent this one out from last week...good god. He's very similar to a 190" my old man shot with rifle in MI in ...2009? At least 2 more points, but not quite as much mass, though.
Wow! What a brute!! If the camera thief decides to give round 2 a "go", theres a nice little surpise waiting Sent from my SM-N960U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Team and especially @Junior - think I am skipping the WI opener next weekend...hate to do it, but it's supposed to be 80 Saturday and 85 Sunday; and a full moon to boot. Just an effing miserable combo of conditions. Plus, gives me more time around the house to appease Mrs. Noodles.
Bummer about the camera! But that’s one helluva buck! We(MN) open this weekend too! Wife has a girls weekend planned, so I’ll probably try and get out in the mornings might have to hit the Lake in the afternoons supposed to be pretty warm! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
In Colorado and good grief it's warm. 86 degrees. Sent from my SM-N981U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Smart idea. We hunted the WI opener a few years ago in mid-80's and it sucked. We came back a week later when a good cold front moved in and there were deer everywhere. The only downside of the hot temps this weekend is usually it means everyone is out hunting and not on the lake. I want to go fishing in peace, dammit.
Good luck! Looks like you're in for some warm temps for the next week or so. If the extended forecast holds up, we could see some pretty cool weather when we finally roll in. They're calling for 30's at night and 60's during the day. I can't wait.
I have posted more than one LFTS Wisconsin opening day selfie in shorts and barefoot. Seems like the first weekend in September is always much cooler than the opener.
GASP! Miss the opener? Intentionally?? LOL No I totally get it. I too do not plan to hunt right now but will be keeping a watchful eye on the weather for any changes. Have a few things to shore up around the homestead too... Sent from my SM-N960U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
My plan was to hit the walleyea on the Turtle Flambeau Flowage, but ive been informed we will be traveling to Eau Claire to pick up a lawn mower. Hope he plans to drive! Sent from my SM-N960U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Mid-September is a strange time in Wisconsin. I can remember opening weekends in shorts, and also opening weekends with frost. One week from today we'll be on the road to Colorado. Going to be a loooong week of work to get through. Although I do plan on going fishing this weekend, which will be nice. One last hurrah before the boat gets put up for the winter.
I just cant concentrate on anything so I said screw work today, Im headed to the farm , Will be In the stand this afternoon hoping the big 8 makes a mistake and comes to the food plot before shooting light disappears
I dont know if you guys are on facebook but check out National Bowhunter League LLC. Talk about an amazing group of people. I told my tale of the stolen game camera there and low & behold, I had a surprise when I arrived home today. NBL sent me a new game camera! I was so surprised and humbled. Definitely an amazing group. Good luck to anyone sitting out tomorrow! Sent from my SM-N960U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Snuck out to the lake yesterday morning and caught a pile of bass. Only one good one - maybe 3 pounder. Then I spent the afternoon getting my bow dialed in with broadheads out to 60 yards. Feeling good for this week. 3 days of work to go and then we're off to Colorado. Who all got out hunting this weekend?? It was HOT yesterday but Saturday looked like a decent day.
I sat for a half a day Saturday on public... Got hot pretty quick. Setup in the dark near an old stream, but saw no deer. After the sun came up, I saw no streams held water...rain is in the forecast the next couple days. Saturday is youth hunting day, so I'll be on my small lot v public.
I should have sat out....didnt and of course would have had a near perfect opportunity at one of my hit listers... Sent from my SM-N960U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Got out Saturday morning not much doing a few skin heads. Gonna try and get out this afternoon with my son have a decent 8 showing up in shooting light last few nights, hopefully he's still around and my son can get a shot off.
We got back Sunday morning. We came close a few times on both a bull and a cow but just didn't happen. Wind was swirling alot on the bull and we think he got our wind. The cow just caught me unexpectedly and even though she became curious after a few cow calls she nervous barked and that was that. We stayed across the road from 600 acres of private ground that had close to 400 elk in it every evening. They would parade down to the alfalfa every evening and just tease us. So close yet so far. Took quite a few grouse and enjoyed some beautiful, smokey sunsets. We stayed right next to where they film the show Yellowstone in Darby, Montana. Pretty cool. Now the focus is on the whitetails.
