Working hunting and sometimes getting a little sleep, my excuse for not being here for a while. Been hunting one buck for the past three weeks. Laid eyes on him last Monday morning but no chance for a shot. Gun hunter shot him that evening in the pasture behind my lease. I've passed every other deer I saw in that time frame. Decided to meat hunt today and shot a doe this morning so have a little more meat in the freezer. Posted a picture in the bow hunting section. Chase phase is about over here and they are in the breeding phase now. Got next chase rut cycle to look forward to in a couple of weeks. Good luck to all out there.

Winds look pretty high tomorrow, and I still have to finishing leaf blowing the yard. Lets just hope the high winds are in the direction the leaves need to go, otherwise I'm hunting in some winds tomorrow! I'll be at it again Wed-Sat, I'll be letting an arrow fly if I get a good shot at a doe as well.

Hope all of you guys in the Illinois area made it through those storms alright. I hope our team luck changes here soon, it seems we have all just come up a hair short, but not for a lack of effort! Good luck guys in the tail end of the rut and be safe!

Nothing with horns! Not even small bucks I don't understand it. Don't go in bedding area/pine woods for weeks and the deer are all gone. See does moving all over but they too will not stay in the woods. Its like its haunted or something.

Mike got a buck this morning. He has been having trouble getting connection at the park and campground. He did not give me any details other than a buck.

Well hopefully next week I'll actually be useful and add a deer to our score. I'm spending Thanksgiving alone so figured I might as well get up in a tree.

Just shot a doe. Not sure how good the hit was, broad side looked like high shoulder, going to eat now and go out and look.

Doe down! Pics to come, 50 more points for us. Smaller than I thought, but after the near encounter with the 8 and the rut tailing out here I was shooting the next deer to walk in front of me.

Not the biggest, but plenty of meat for me. Shot her higher than I wanted. No blood for 10 yds or so, then I picked up a bit with bubbles in it, and followed half way decent blood and she piled up about 60 yds from impact. Now for a post rut buck!

Our gun season starts Saturday I will be carrying my bow into the woods instead of a gun this year.

Congrats Ghilie on your Doe, nice job. rizzo, can't wait to see some pic's of your Buck, again nice job. Mike good luck, looks like your Guide is checking some trail cam pic's to make sure she has you in the right area, lol. Well guys it's back to reality for me tomorrow, (back to work) yuck. I still can't believe I just hunted 26-days straight, and never drew my Bow back once on a Deer. I only seen one Buck that I would have shot, and he was at least 300 yards away. That was on Nov. 10th. The fact that I never even got a chance on a Doe, really blows my mind. I'm not writing my season off yet, but with MN. second shotgun season opening tomorrow, it's gonna be a lot tougher. Hopefully the late season is a lot kinder than the rest of the season has been. Good luck to everyone hunting this weekend stay safe. B.H.O.D.
