No opportunity to get out this entire weekend. Looks like this week it will be tough to get any hunting in either. Be back out next weekend for my last WI hunt of the year. Congrats Mike!

Made an 8 yard shot a doe this morning. Tried a new spot that I saw the other day leaving the woods after a morning hunt. She was about 30 yards out coming straight at me when I heard her and 20 yards before I could see movement. Hunting the edge of a swampy area. She stopped under a holly tree before stepping out. Let her pass then slid one in high left side and out the opposite leg. Graphic blood spray as she bucked and bolted straight into the swamp. Heard the crash. Looked at the ground and saw about a two inch long chunk of lung laying in the bloody leaves. Short drag through some real thick stuff to the new ATV.

Deer been moving late down this way. Modern gun doe season was the week before last and this last weekend muzzle loader season opened. While I'm working, I'm seeing most of the deer movement after 8 in the morning and stays steady until around 11then tapers off until just before dark. Bucks beginning to be more active. Took two extra days off next week and the week after to hunt before the modern gun season opens here on the 9th. Hoping to catch the chase phase while I am off. That's usually when I have luck if I am going to have any. Good luck to all out there.

In the tree. Hunting my lease today. Waiting for daylight. Lite mist right now. Suppose to break later this morning. Good luck out there.

Swamp, I am seeing the same thing up here in Northern IL. For my job I drive from home to home providing therapy to patients in their homes. In the AMs I do not see any deer 'til around 8:30-9:00. I then see deer moving all day until around 5:00. It seems early in the year to have some much mid-day movement. I usually don't see that until around the first week of November. Also, been seeing some larger bucks this past week. Stopped and watched a big 8 pointer yesterday from the road. I am thinking some does went into estrus this month 'cause he had his nose to the ground while walking straight across a cut bean field at mid-day. Charles Alzheimer predicted that a small % of does would go into estrus this month....looks like he was right from what I am seeing.

I hope to get out hunting this afternoon unless I get a new patient to see late in the afternoon. Also, we are supposed to get a little snow this afternoon!!! Woo-hooo!!

The pre-rut is on in Arkansas! Having a few shooters show up during daylight hours and the fighting has begun. Got a new spot picked out on our place that shows promise. Just bought my first Lone Wolf stand, going to put in this spot! Pumped! Good luck guys!
