BABY UPDATE!

Ernest (Ernie) was born last night at 8:17PM – 6lbs 11oz and 20” Long. Mom, Dad, Baby and Uncle Neal are doing great.

Well I'm heading down to the Shack today. Plan on checking my cameras and getting in the Tree for the first time this season, not to thrilled with the forecast though, mid to upper 70's. (YUCK!) The 10 day forecast looks good though, another cool front coming through this weekend, and highs in the 50's next week. That's more like it.

That's a great picture Mike. Looks like she's taking her job pretty serious. I've been in the stand for 40 minutes now, nothing yet It's pretty warm though, so I'm not really expecting too much til the sun gets down.I will try and check back in again after the hunt.

 

Saw three last night. Been overrun by button bucks so far. Two different properties 12 miles apart and three bb last Tuesday on one and two this Tuesday on the other. Also had a spike at 15 yards broadside last night just before I got out of the stand. All the little bucks have given me a broadside at 10 to 15 yards but not planning on burning a buck tag on one of these little guys. Another front coming through this weekend with rain forecast on my days off nest week. Guess I'll be sitting in the rain again. Good luck to all out there.

 

Didn't see anything tonight while on stand. It was nice to get back in the tree though.

5 days to go and I'll be in the stand, woot!

 

Well fellas I'll be heading out to my small farm in LaSalle county today to hunt this evening and all day tomorrow.
Hopefully I have a second chance at one of those turkeys.
I haven't had any real buck activity on this property at all this year. But from what I have heard just a couple miles away they got hammered with EHD. Either way Ill be in the stand and we will see how it goes.

It's been a good day! Someone offered me a very nice offer on the Helim so I sold it. Then my buddy at the bow shop offered me one heck of a deal on a ZXT. Bow, Mathews T3 quiver, Ripcord rest, and setup (including peep and paper tune,etc) for $850. Needless to say I took the proceeds from that Helim (which needed restrung, buyer knew about it) and got the ZXT. After this season the plan is to turn the Carbon Knight into a 3d tourney bow and the ZXT will be the hunting setup. For now, the Carbon Knight will be my hunter considering I have her all setup and down to 4 days until opener! Good luck to any hunting this weekend. Go Dawgs and BHOD!

 

Just watched the episode Mike, what a great doe! That had to be fun out hunting with Richie!

 

Great hunt Mike, very cool to see you on there! How do you and Richie work out who films and who shoots? Or are you dedicated camera man?
