Got another doe last evening. This time in IL. I had never gotten a deer with my bow in northern IL so it was gratifying. Was surrounded by deer from the moment I got into the stand until I shot the deer about an hour later. Had a doe and 2 fawns under me most of the night eating something. No oak trees on this 10 acre property. Also passed a 6 pointer. Kinda sucked butchering late on a weeknight, but still happy. Now I can focus on a decent Buck....hopefully!

Even though early season is my favorite time of the hunting season for patterning deer I have never had the luck I have had this year.

The property I hunted last evening is completely surrounded by crop fields. Once the crops are out the deer disappear until Spring. I tried a new technique by not stepping foot on the property after I hung my stands in April until yesterday. Usually I would be scouting, hanging more stands, hanging cams, checking cams and just plain putting too much pressure on this little property. It seems to have worked. Usually I see a total of 2-3 deer TOTAL in previous season on this property. They had ME patterned!!

Got the Carbon Knight home today, its a little louder than the Helim but not by much. Just feels great to me! Got the 20 sighted in and headed to the range tomorrow to finish getting the React's remaining pins done. Good luck to all of you headed to the woods this weekend

Just saw a monster buck out in a bean field heading to my next patient's home. For those of you who know northern IL I was on rt 120 near Round Lake. Gonna be a good weekend here in the Midwest with this massive cold front going thru. I expect to see some deer going down for my team 3 teammates!! Good luck guys...back to work.

I shoot nocturnals, pretty pleased with them so far. Been pretty warm here, just went out for a bike ride and saw a couple does. Looking like a cold front for the second half of the week, which could give me some good afternoon movement.
