I did not have any Bucks out of velvet on my last check, and with this lovely weather we have had I won't be checking my cameras until next week.

I hope I get some more pic's of this buck, he has some crazy long brow tines. pasture stand 010.jpg

I'll be headed out tomorrow to check the trail cam and see if I a) set it up right and b) see if any deer are moving in that spot. Have to head to the archery shop today and find a new sight. The G5 Xr that came on this Heli-m when I got it has some issues with the set screws and so on and I just don't like it! Wish that Trophy Ridge React came in Lost Camo

Thank you Tree Spider. Today me and my friend were out making the final prep on tree stand set we went to take out a old stand of my friends and replace it with a new muddy on his 40. He got up to take out his ez hang he put in last fall and went to step on the peg and the stand broke free him and the stand fell but his life line saved him. We got the new muddy in and called it a night.

Glad to hear your buddy is OK after that incident. This is the first year in 26 yrs of deer hunting that I have used a lineman's strap to hang a stand. I felt a LOT safer using that item. Gonna invest in the lifeline prior to the season, too. thanks for sharing!

    NO DOUBT GLAD HE'S OK
Every set we/I have on either property it's set up with life lines. It is the simplest thing to use and you don't need to screw around strapping to the tree anymore.
I used to make my own but the ones hunter safety system sells are not that much more and saves me 2 hours of labor

I don't use the lifeline because I don't have a spot where I leave my stand but I do use the shorter lifeline rope strap that HSS makes so I still have the prusic knot system. Glad your friend is ok!

Well just talk to him and he was going to urgent care because he woke up this morning and it was hard to breath and he has a couple ribs the really hurt. He said that he thinks when the safety line caught and slamed him into the tree he hit the peg. Will keep you guys updated.

Headed out now to go check the trail cam. Major delay this morning due to the front calipers freezing up on the F250. Luckily OReillys had some in stock!

Let us know how your buddy is doing, possibly bruised his ribs from the sound of it

Just got off the phone with him he has 1 fractured rib and 3 bruised. Doc told him to take it easy till the opener. So close to a really bad situation but he will be ready to rock by the 14th. His dad is a good family friend and told me the any thing I thing need to be done should be. So me and him in charge of managing his property because he out of action and his dad let us have full power of the property so i am running over there to spray food plots and put life lines in all the stands.they stopped at gander on the way back from doc and bought a bunch. Leaving right now to run over on the ranger.

At least it's recoverable! Hope he heals quick.

So I have about 600 pictures of the vine and branch that fell and hung right in front of the cam. No deer in the photos and no night pics except two of the vine. A deer was on the mineral spot though, it's all scratched up and I found tracks. Hopefully next card pull will be better

916 pics from the 23rd and all of the dang vine, only two pics were night ones though. Not sure if I need to change settings. This one pic is kinda cool though, lil feller popping in to say hi!

Right behind that bird at the base of the tree is one spot I put the minerals, found some tracks around it and it had been scratched up compared to the first few pics I looked at from the 23rd. I think I may need to move the cam onto the other side of the creek and closer and adjust the setting on the sensitivity. Put some Tink's Salad Dressing all around today, hopefully next Saturday I'll see some fur on cam when I go do a card pull and hang my stand!

Just moved some stands around. Checked the cams while I was out even though they have only been out 4 days, had 4 different bucks in 4 days, nothing huge but still all shooters to me.

Still up in the air on my last stand location. We will see in a week and go with the gut feeling.
