Alright fellas - I will do what I can to manage the captain duties! I am for Predators vs. Prey! So I am supposed to be transitioned from this walking boot/aircast into a brace. I went and bought some PVC and am going to try to make use a form and a heat gun to mold a PVC ankle/foot brace. Right now I cannot bear weight, or rather am not supposed to be bearing full weight on my Achilles, my thought is to keep my foot/ankle in a 90 degree fixed position which should allow me to gimp up some steeper terrain. I am hoping that I will be ready come season opener - trying to get on the board early as the bucks I am currently getting are very regular and well within shooting shooting light.
Jensen, I like your never say die attitude. It's a long season and the real good stuff won't happen for another 2 months. Heal up. Side story. Buddy of mine on the swat team ripped his knee up many years ago. He was after an awesome buck all season. Well he ended up getting surgery the first week of Nov. He was bummed. In Dec he limped into the woods with a bad knee and ended up arrowing that buck right at sundown! He called me and was going crazy. I have a feeling you will do the same.
That's awesome - not that he got injured obviously but rather that he did what he could and made things come together. I appreciate the story as it just adds that encouragement and motivation! I figure as long as I am pushing myself within reason and am not foolish, then things will piece together and I'll do alright.

Fwiw I remember having a PVC brace on either side of my ankles shadow was very gently curved....less than a parenthesis. Elastic and velcro to fasten around the abkle/calf. Inside had a gel pad against my ankle which was against with maybe 2 sided tape. I had some Achilles mobility though...pretty much the only thing I didn't year up. Not sure the riskof a diy is any better than the boot...hell I got pretty good driving with it after 16 weeks in it...you'll figure it out. Good luck.

All caps, as for team, I looked at the first page and I see only one person who hasn't checked in...could be missing something though. @wl704 I am going to do a trial run with the brace but essentially I just want to make sure my ankle is immobilized and I can get my foot in a boot! Haha. We'll see what happens. Also, I hope your wife is healing up well.
I am good with the Predators vs prey for the team name. Jenson good luck it will be a fun year as captain. Gets busy keeping up with team threads and live from the stand thread come October into Nov then slows down when December hits. I may also be able to update the thread name if that is what we all want to roll with. Just let me know.
