Warm weather here this weekend, heading to the mtns may be a gamble as it’ll be new ground, but I’ll be fighting fewer mosquitoes.
I've been delt a bomb. I've been dealing with some foot pain since August. When I was wearing my crocks and stepped on a pty rock and I felt some pain, but no big deal and I continued on doing whatever I was doing. So the past few weeks my foot has been hurting more and more. I went the other day to have it cked out. I was thinking it was broken / fractured. However it not broken or fractured. I have plantar fasciitis rest is recommended. It hurts to walk on it. I given it some rest. I have an appt on Halloween to follow up on this injury. Treatment. I'm going to tuff it out but on a a limited basis.
Been dealing with plantar fasciitis for a couple years. Had steroid shots in both feet a year or two ago…for whatever reason, steroid injections really don’t help me much… Been doing some exercises off and on that seem to help more. If you listen to podcasts, check out Ep 243 of Beyond the Kill, that covers some exercises, massage and stretching. @drmattearddc on IG, aka Wardo, is also pretty responsive should you have questions too… Good luck!
Got that real bad in my foot when I was running a lot. Found out My hips were weak. Started working on side leg lifts a lot...that and basic anti inflams and some self massage and I got rid of it. My knees were rotating inward as well bc of those weak butt and hip muscles. Heat it up and then take your thumbs to a section and press into it. Stretch that thing out over and over. It will hurt. Then ice. Worked for me brother.
Another potential cause of plantar fasciitis is collapsed arches. My wife deals with that. If that is you, you may need specialty orthotic inserts for your shoes and boots. Strengthening the hips and getting your legs in proper alignment under your hips will still help, but may not be enough. If you have collapsed arches, stick a quarter under your big toe, keep your foot flat on the floor and use the big toe to slide the quarter back towards your foot. This will strengthen the muscles that support the arches of the feet.
I like this. I used to have very high arches and they have flattened quit a bit bc I'm not sprinting or doing explosive stuff anymore. I'm gonna start doing that exercise.
