Gimme a second... I just got back from KS where I'd been trying to do this a bit off my iPhone; now that I've got an actual full-size monitor in front of me, it makes it a whole lot easier... :)

Dan, the only one who didn't check in this year was TKP030... Looks like we need a replacement for him.

We had another fantastic trip to KS this year, with both boys tagging out and a couple of their hunts being caught on film to air on "The Break" next season (currently on the Pursuit channel). I didn't get a chance to draw my bow this time, but Missouri cranks up this coming Monday, and who knows? I may make another trip back out to KS after that to put some more meat in the freezer... especially since turkey meat ranks darn-near as close as elk for me in my favorite meat.

Today is opening day. I put out a few trail cameras a few days ago and came in cold Saturday afternoon ahead of a storm and threw up a blind on one side of the farm ... swapped out the SD cards while I was putting up the blind and checked them when I got home; I had two big strutters on the other side opposite my blind (very small property I'm hunting).

Came on into my blind this morning and still haven't heard a gobble yet ... moved my blind to where I was getting the video of the gobblers.

Cool thing is I JUST missed catching one of the toms breeding a hen on camera. She'd squat, wait a few seconds, and then run around him while he was in full strut. They finally moved just off frame to the left and the next video is her stepping back into view shaking her tousled-up feathers back into place.

He's a good'n, too... 27 1/2 lbs helped a lot on his way to amassing 68.5 points. Had a bunch of beard rot or he would have been a lot better.

Waiting for the rain to move off to go back to the farm where I thwacked him this morning. The fields are full of beautiful wildflowers out there, and I'm going to drag my son along to take some pics. Trying to get him dried out a bit too in the mean time...

Here's MO bird #1... I honestly doubt a second bird would be bigger than this one, but I'll hold off throwing him on the official scorecard for a few weeks and see... 27.5 lbs, 1 1/16" spurs and 9.75" beard

Well done! We went out Sunday and Clinton shot a great bird spot and stalk using fans. We got 12" of snow today, tomorrow we are headed out to see if I can stick a bird in the snow... same tactics. After hunting like this for the past couple of seasons, I'm not sure I'll ever be able to sit in a blind in Wyoming again :D

That'd be so cool to do! My oldest really wants to fan in a bird, but I've gotta feel real comfortable with our surroundings before we try it... too many of our spots are too small and the property lines don't get us far enough away from potential problems.

Had my IM me today and there about 15 birds in a field tonight that I have permission to hunt on.. Changing plans and heading there for the morning rather than the original spot I was thinking. They looked like they would be roosting around there as it was just about fly up time when I spotted them in the field. (had to drive by to see for myself where they were)..
