I missed a doe today, it was the highlight of a very bad day. I should've stayed in bed. Though the day also consisted of not getting to hunt my 'go to' spot, getting interupted by 2 hikers 'is this the trail?' when I was spot-stalking a deer, seeing 4 turkeys, seeing 5 hunters (who didn't see me, even wearing my blaze orange), getting shot at by some yahoo's target practicing at some black walnuts they were throwing in the air, taking the wrong bow (needed the one with the big peep) for the evening sit, and a stupid little branch (see highlight of day), followed by a buck snorting from behind my set when retrieving the arrow. !*@#*!¤¥€!! Arrow deflected behind the deer. Clean miss though.

Well I haven't been able to go out in a little over a week, but i'm gonna sit everyday this week and pretty much all day on Tuesday cause I ain't got no school. Hopefully something will happen, the highs are in the 40's all week here in mass as we get closer to the rut.

A reminder, if you post an entry in the scoreboard thread, please make sure you include all the details. The two pics, date and time seem to be a few of the recurring misses. If you check your entry (after a day or so) and it says "ENTERED" its good, otherwise you may find some feedback (red bold) indicating missing details.

I'm hoping to possibly get out this evening with the bow. I will be out tomorrow for opening day of gun season with my boys, but I may bring the bow if the conditions are good.

My season (bow and gun) went to hell, but may be ending on a high note..., last outting with the bow above was a miss (above), we still have some urban archery 1/12-2/15 (I think) to come, but I'm not sure I'll be able to get out again.
My shoulder was pretty bad for most of the year and have been considering surgery for some time, but that will go on hold...Just before Thanksgiving (right at the rut), I was laid off, since its been a mix of applying for jobs, interviewing and few opportunities to get into the woods. God willing, I should be headed back to work soon, but I did get a few last outings with the rifle. I had a deer (believe it was a doe) within 15' while sitting on the ground about an hour before legal shooting light, so dark, I couldn't even see the sights, but could see the sky lined silhouette. One other outing 3 does snuck up close over the right shoulder ~30yds (I'm right handed though so no dice) followed by a beautiful grey fox 10' away at ground level.

And 'gimpy', the patriarch of my backyard deer, (or one of his sons) made a brief appearance during the rut in the yard...and I had an opportunity - release on, bow in hand and reaching for the arrow, when I got an interview call. I did get some crude pics of him with my phone...a decent sized deer for these parts.

Saw lots of deer this year though, explored some new land, and cannot wait for the next season to get here soon enough.
