OK, admit it... you read that in Bruce Buffer's Octagon voice didn't you? ;) I figured I might as well, since the odds get slimmer and slimmer each year of us defending back-to-back-to-back to ...

Let's do this again, shall we?

If I remember correctly you snuck it in by the skin of your teeth last year.

I'm here. Season starts March 15th. Hopefully I will actually be able to contribute this year.

Season started here yesterday. I went and walked around and saw a lot of sign. It's suppose to storm this weekend so it may be a few days until I get to go back out there.

Started pulling out all the turkey gear last night... Next weekend is IL youth season with the boys, then MO's youth season the following weekend, and then we'll all pack up and head to Kansas April 11-16 where I'll get my first crack at one.

I went out for the youth season today. Lots of gobbling an had some toms fly down pretty close but they pitched the other way. Definitely should catch up with them. It was 16 degrees and windy during my hunt today.

Still fun, that first spring gobble always gets me

Agreed Shane... took my two boys out this weekend for IL's first youth season and we had about a dozen gobbling their heads off on the south side of us... ALMOST got it done later in the day but my oldest decided he needed to move, adjust, readjust and move again as I had a gobbler working his way toward us. Ugh.

Sunday... nothing. Walked miles and miles and not one gobble. All day long. Well, at least until closing time at 1 p.m.

Next week is MO youth season for them. I'll get to go myself the week after that when we head to KS.

Seems like I saw something that Dustin may have broken the ice in Kansas ... I’ll be there myself in two days, though I usually hold off and try to enter a Missouri bird as our birds are usually about 20% bigger than the Rio/hybrids I chase out there.

    Good luck, team ... it’s TIIIIII-IIIME!!!!

    - edit. It was Justin who spilled blood out there. Maybe Dustin will connect soon though. KS is certainly a target-rich environment.

I've been hunting pretty hard lately, but the turkeys just aren't using my property like they have in the past. I have two weeks left in the season, so hopefully I'll be able to get it done.

    That's awesome Dustin!!

We just got back from Kansas about an hour ago... both boys killed out, and I sailed a Muzzy about a whisker's length away beside a big gobbler's head as he was walking away from our setup :(

Hopefully I can put one down in the next couple weeks here in Missouri... not sure if I'll get to head back out to Kansas this year to try to fill the tags or not as I've got a lot of stuff going on around the house I need to get to.

So take my experience today and use it as your wisdom... maybe you'll have less gray hairs and stress.

After sitting in a blind for six hours straight and hearing or seeing nothing, and you finally get a smokin' hot gobbler come from a 1/4 mile away (or whatever the human capacity is to BARELY hear a gobble on a clear, still day...), and he's flogging your jake decoy three feet in front of you -- you may want to check to make sure your blind chair hasn't slowly and imperceptibly sank into the field dirt 3" which causes you to whack the top of your blind with your big guillotine-style broadhead. Ugh.

He was a nice Missouri Eastern too... probably 25 lbs and an 11" beard. Ugh again.

Sat this weekend. Dad got a real nice tom. Yesterday I saw 4 toms three jakes and a hen and today I saw 8 different toms 5 Jakes and 5 hens. When I say this was frustrating I mean I was losing it. I came so close like 20 times today.... will be back after it next weekend.
